beachbuddy Posted April 22, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 22, 2010 Wondering if anyone knows how long it will take to get to St. George from the docks. I understand the ferry does not run on the weekends to SG. We really wanted to go snorkeling at Tobacco Bay but without the ferry running we're thinking maybe not. It's our first time in Bermuda so we're not familiar with where everything is or how to get there. We can take the bus or ferry to Hamilton and someone said we could take the bus to St. George but how far is it and how long would it take to get there? Thanks for any information you can give me. njhorseman Posted April 22, 2010 #2 Share Posted April 22, 2010 The ferry from Dockyard to Hamilton takes 20 minutes, the walk from the ferry terminal uphill to the bus terminal is another 10-15 minutes, and the bus ride to St. George's probably about 45 minutes using the #10 or 11 bus...about an hour using the #1 or 3. So...you can figure at least 1 hour 15 minutes travel time, but unless you get lucky you'll probably have a few minutes wait for the bus...so give it about 1 1/2 hours from the time you board the ferry at Dockyard. Thanks, we're there for 2 days. Do you think it's worth it to spend all that time traveling there? If we do this, most likely we'd do it on the first day and spend the 2nd day at Horseshoe. njhorseman Posted April 22, 2010 #4 Share Posted April 22, 2010 By all means, make the trip, and leave enough time to do a lttle exploration of St. Georges while you're there. It's a wonderfully quaint and historic town
