Where to watch Voyager leave from Bayonne?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Is there a good place to watch Voyager leave from Bayonne? Hubby and I will be on Mariner in August and we've never seen one of these Voyager-class ships before, would love to get a glimpse of one. Can we go to the dock eventhough we won't be sailing that day, or could we see it pass by at Liberty State Park? Thanks for any info.

You can't get into the port unless you have a ticket and the port is further south than Liberty State Park so the ship does not pass there. I found a spot in the industrial area near the port. If you take exit 14a on the tpk toward the pier and follow the sign for RT440 after the toll plaza. That will take you over a short overpass that curves to the left. After the overpass you go straight into the industrial area. There are some good places to see the ship from there

Ken

Hi Ken - Thanks so much for the info! I'm glad we didn't waste our time by trying to go to the port. I actually called RCCL once to see if we could board the ship in dock to look around and I think the lady on the other end almost choked. I was thinking of the old Love Boat days when you could go onboard to see someone off, didn't realize that that had changed post 9/11, but I guess I'm glad for the stricter safety precautions.

go to ft. wadsworth, it's at the base of verrasano, bridge on the staten island side.there are benches you can sit on overlooking Ny harbor. you can watch the ship sail down the harbor and under the verrazano.you can also tour the old fort it is now run by the national park service.

There is a small shopping mall across from the pier.
