Can you bring Russian Vodka into the UK and mail it to the US..Or how has anyone managed this purchase, if it can be done ?? If so what are some must brands ?? Have no idea about the laws on alcohol...

We bought a wonderful bottle of Vodka in St Petrsburg, in a visually attractive box. We just brought it back on the shp, packed it with our luggage, and it got home in very nice fashion. (We did spend 5 days post cruise in London, and no trouble at all). Don't know if we were supposed to declare it, but we didn't.

Cheers

I don't know if you can take it back to the UK or not, but I can recommend a brand of vodka--Russian Standard. It's not widely available in the US right now but it is very good. Here is the website for it so you can see what a bottle looks like:

You can also get Stolichayna but its nothing different than what you get here.

It was almost the exact brand that was displayed in the link supplied above, Russian Standard, only it was "gold" and came in a great sort of display case, which opened in the middle to display the bottle. We haven't opened it as of yet, as we really bought it more as a great souvenier.

Cheers

We bought a bottle of vodka in Russia and declared it as we boarded the ship. They gave it back on the last night and we packed it in our luggage, went to London for 4 days, then boarded a flight at Heathrow to So Cal with no problems. We did not buy the vodka at a store--we only had one quick chance to buy vodka, which we missed. So we asked our guide when we were at lunch the second day. She arranged for us to buy a bottle from the restaurant we were at. We bought one of the more expensive bottles, but there is not a lick of English on the bottle. In cryllic, the name is АПАТЙ, which seems to translate to this: APATJ. It's a little harsh, but it's definitely Russian bodka!

15 - 25 dollars (400 - 700 roubles)

Yes, that's about what we paid. And it wasn't a souvenir thing, we just use it as such. It was an expensive bottle of Vodka in a great box.

Cheers

I have been buying Russian Standard in Boca Raton, Fl, for the past few years. I first bought it in Russia, but they seem to have it here also. :)
