We are booked on the Crown Princess for next May 22, 2011 for the #1 of your choice. We have never been to either but I found the British Isles itinerary more interesting than Scandanavia or Russia.

Come join us I just started a roll call and there are already two couples coming.:):)

That's a hard one, but you came to the right place. However I haven't done either. I would pick #1 but I love all things British. I say you can't go wrong.

I haven't cruised the British Isles but we have friends who just got off a cruise there. We LOVED the Scandinavia cruise - especially Russia!

We have done both... both were on the Crown..

 

I would say that the Baltic cruise was far better than the British Isles one. Don't get me wrong as both were good but the Baltic, especially with the 2 days in St. Petersburg, was much better. The itinerary was much better and more enjoyable. We stayed and took 6 days to go thru Germany and Austria afterwards.

 

The one thing I did not like about the British Isles cruise is that the casino was closed about 70% of the time because you are always in UK waters.

 

Being able to go over and spend a few days in London before the cruise was a big plus.

 

Bottom line, you can't go wrong with either.

Russia. Anything that includes Russia is almost always better than anything that doesn't! Seriously, the UK is so easy to do on your own as a land tour that I'd pick the Baltic itinerary since you get to cover more ground. That said, they're both good itineraries and I doubt you'd be disappointed in either.

We have been on both. Our British Isles cruise wins hands down over Baltics on Emerald. There was no language barrier on the British Isles cruise, we loved the British humor, it was easy to book very good private excursions and it was easier to relate to the things we visited. Who hasn't heard of Loch Ness, the Tower of London, the Blarney Stone, the Battle of Culloden, Abby Road & the Beatles, the list goes on and on. Out of all of our cruises I rate the British Isles cruise as number one.

I have done both on land and love both. I do love Russia a tad more.

 

Both are great itineraries - you won't be disappointed with either.

If you take Princess tours, you do not need a visa (the ship covers this for their tours). There are certain private tour guides who arrange for a group visa for their tour groups if you book with them (Red October, Alla, etc...). In both of these situations, you do need to stay with the group (not wander off on your own). If you want to go out on your own and wander around, you do need to apply for your own visa.
