mare s. Posted May 1, 2010 #1 Share Posted May 1, 2010 We will be in Athens a few days before our cruise, so we will see most of the sites in town(I hope) Our cruise leaves on August 15, which is a holiday in Greece. Any suggestions for things we can do in the morning before we leave Athens for Pireaus? Was thinking about Cape Sounion, but the archeological sites will be closed there because of the holiday. Or should we consider it a "down" day and just head to the ship early?

MHO is to get out and walk places you did not walk trying to see the sights...enjoy the flavor of the city and the area around you...stop and get a iced coffe(can't beat them in Athens),window shop, say hi to someone you don't know then go to the ship and enjoy the cruise:D
mare s. Posted May 2, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted May 2, 2010 Karen, I like your suggestion....I always try to cram so much into our trips...a leisurely stroll in the morning before it gets too hot might be just the thing to do. Iced coffee sounds perfect!
Rare cruisemom42 Posted May 2, 2010 #4 Share Posted May 2, 2010 I'm not going to be there on August 15, but what I plan to do on the morning before going to Piraeus to board my ship is enjoy a nice leisurely late breakfast on the rooftop terrace of my hotel with a view of the Parthenon. Then, as Karen suggested, I may walk around a little. (Or I may pop into the new Acropolis museum, right across the street from my hotel if I'm restless. Not an option on 8/15, however.)
