Hyatt Regency Miami

We are planning a cruise for 11/05 on the Norwegian Jewel to the Eastern Caribbean. Our TA is making our arrangements. They are doing sea only and air and hotel as a separate package for us. We are going to stay the night before the cruise, which works out better for us, less stress and hopefully no weather worries.

Question is, has anyone stayed at the Hyatt Regency at 400SE 2nd Ave in Miami? Can anyone tell us about this hotel, pro or con? The TA said this is the one that the airlines uses on vacation packages.

Any information would be helpful?

Thanks

We are staying thre for a night before our cruise, have not stayed there before, but heard good things about the hotel from these boards. For your info, many times when you bid on priceline this is the hotel that comes up. We wound up paying thru Priceline 65 dollars with all the fees for the night. I am not a Priceline fan and do not use but, a lot of the posters on this board said to try .....cvame out a h.....of a lot cheaper that way

We have gotten this hotel through Priceline twice for only $44. I bid $35 and they came back asking to add $9 to the bid. With taxes it runs around $54. The hotel is not as fancy in the reception area as most Hyatts. But the rooms are large and nicely appointed. The coffee makers are chinzy with paper cups. However, the food is good and decently priced. There is a nice little deli in the lobby area for coffee, pastries, sandwiches and salads if you don't want to pay for a sit-down meal. Staff is friendly and helpful. Hotel is not far from Bayside. I would definitely bid a 3 star downtown to get either the Hyatt, Sheraton Biscayne Bay(much more attractive lobby area), or Holiday Inn at Bayside.

WE stayed at this hotel on January 23. many other people on these threads had commented on the noise level that is present at the hotel. We were booked on the side of the hotel that overlooks a metal drawbridge. During the night every car that went over the bridge made a very loud noise as it passed over the movable portion of the bridge. Additionally the hotel is located next to a major construction site. As a result the moving of heavy vehicles commenced at six AM.complete with back up beeping alarms. So if you have a choice I would look for something else. The hotel caters to many cruisers as well as airline crews,as a result there is a tremendous amount of bus traffic at the hotel
