How Prompt are Taxis in Galveston?

Recommended Posts

We willbe parking our car at the hotel and wanting to take a taxi to the pier.

The hotel shuttle cost $40.00 and doesn't make its first trip until 1130am.

I am wondering how prompt the taxi service is in Galveston.

I wil be staying on the Seawall area and want to get to the pier at 1100.

SHould i call the taxi an hour before? 30 min before?

Anyone have experience with Galveston taxi service?

Thanks, Carla

We have used Jeffs cab service several times, just do a search and the info will come up with a phone number, If memory serves me correctly you can actually schedule in advance they are prompt and very nice and will schedule your return pick-up.

What hotel charges $40 for their shuttle?? I go out of Galveston, never heard of this.

Please update us. thanks in advance. Id like to be forewarned.

I moved my car last time to discount parking across from Howard Johnson's rather than use the free parking and deal with a taxi. It is only like $45 for a 7 day, less for Ecstasy, so it wasnt worth dealing with the taxi to me.

Comfort Inn & Suites on the Seawall told me that they charge $10 per person one way to use their shuttle service. There are 4 of us so it would be $40 for a shuttle to the pier. They said a taxi usually runs about $20. total..

Thanks for th info on Jeffs taxi. I wil google it..

Oh, I think we were at Quality Inn and Suites Beachfront, the names are starting to all sound the same.

Good to know they have a shuttle.

Have you considered driving over to the pier earlier and dropping 3 off and going back so the one person left can shuttle over. its only 3 miles approx over there, so you could shuttle them over pretty fast and get back.

Drive to the pier about 10;00 am drop off the bags, Go back park the

car , and catch the trolly on Seawall , and get off in the Strand

Walk over to the ship , about 2 blocks , I believe the trolly is .50

each, Nice ride also
