ssremodel Posted May 13, 2010 #303 Share Posted May 13, 2010 Hello everyone ! I made it on board. . . I arrived at the pier entrance by 8PM, and there was quite a line for baggage drop off, and a longer line for parking. I waited for a while in line to get into the terminal, and just one more line to check in. By the time I saw the check in agent, things were very smooth and very fast. I made it to the ship by 10PM. There was a very short shuttle ride (2min). Captain Olav Nyseter announced that there would be no muster drill tonight, as it was getting very late, and we will have our Muster drill tomorrow at 10:15AM. We were supposed to turn our clocks forward tonight at midnight, but that was delayed until tomorrow as well. Our Cruise Director, Mike Hunnerup announced that at noon tomorrow, we will adjust all clocks to 1PM. We left the pier at 11:30 tonight, and the Casino opened at midnight. There will be no Casino Royale for me tonight. . . I need to hit the rack. Here are a few pics from the boarding process tonight. . . Many more pics will come tomorrow ! The comments everyone have posted have been very nice. Thank You, and thanks for tuning in. . . I can't believe it is 12:30AM, and I am still awake. Radio Explorer of the Seas is ready for me now ! Uh oh. . We have a long line to get into the terminal. . . Almost there. . .We are in the terminal and ready for security. Wow. . There is a lot of people in here ! The Diamond Plus Desk was a very good sight for me. . . We made it ! I am very happy now. . . . My husband and I are standing in line in the 3rd picture. That's so funny you got us in a shot. It took us 2 hours to board, and didn't go so smooth for us. The line shut down for 30 minutes. Someone said their computers went down. And the casino never opened the first night. We were there at midnight. No casino bar and no betting.

sk8trgrl13 Posted May 13, 2010 #305 Share Posted May 13, 2010 We were on the cruise too but never made it out to the VCL - the mermaids refused to get out of the pool - your photos are fantastic & so is your enthusiasm for cruising. This was the maiden voyage for my children - they loved it & spent not one minute in AO - they did not want to miss a thing. RCI definitely knows how to treat a family - our voyage was perfect, despite the late boarding on Saturday. Let us know when you post your video - we are looking forward to it! JohnGaltny Posted May 14, 2010 #313 Share Posted May 14, 2010 Radio, It was truly great to meet you in person after following your Live stuff. Members of this board should know that Radio is, in person, as classy and laid back as he appears on here. Plus, when you buy him a drink, he's a really cheap date.;) Now I'm gonna go back and read this thread and find out what happened.:D
Gilgo Surfer Posted May 14, 2010 #314 Share Posted May 14, 2010 Technically we do not pass the statue. We enter the river below where she stands. However she can be seen off in the distance on the port side while we are docked at Cape Liberty. Please remember, if it's lit, to look at the 9/11 Memorial on the starboard side that we will pass before entering the river. If you don't get to see it, look for it on our return. We have rescheduled our ride to arrive at 7:30 ish. And Happy Birthday...today is my birthday. 8-) You come much closer to the Statue of Liberty if you sail out of NY rather than NJ If my memory serves. shortstuf Posted May 14, 2010 #316 Share Posted May 14, 2010 Hello everyone. . . I was unable to make another post last night. . .There was a lot going on. I went to the Rick Novel show in the Palace Theater. This was a great show. . I have seen him on several cruises, but he is always very funny. He is an Entertainer from Baltimore, who specializes in Juggling, Comedy, and visual effects. If you sail on Explorer. . You must see him. I went to the Connoisseur Club to meet up with a few Cruise Critic Roll Call friends I met, and made it up to the Tropical Deck Party. There was a lot of passengers up on the pool deck, and all seemed to enjoy the dancing, music, and food. I went out and rode around the dockyard, to see what was around last night, and most of the food and beverage places were open, but the malls and shops closed at 6PM. I plan on hitting the Maritime Museum, and Snorkel Park today. I’m sure I will pick up a few gifts as well. The forecast for today is 70F, and mostly sunny. . . Very Nice. Here are a few pics from last night. . . More pics later today ! Thanks for tuning in. Radio Rick Novell, “The Ladder Guy” There was a ton of food and very good music at the Tropical Deck Party last night. . Great meeting you at the roll call get together and then at the zoo! - hey we made it into one of your photos! - we are dancing in the middle in front of the band. LOL - i'm in turqoise and black and hubby is in white collared shirt and tan pants - too funny!

cruzship21 Posted May 14, 2010 #319 Share Posted May 14, 2010 Sorry I didn't get to meet anyone but I wasn't feeling well from the chemo. I did see Meg and Radio walking around but wasn't up to talking. I thought the cruise was great and my grandkids loved it which is all that matters. I don't feel we lost a day at all. We were on the ship by 7:30 and had dinner. I think RCCL did a great job. People should not be complaining as I feel we had a full day anyway and we did have FIVE NIGHTS. My only wish was that it would have been warmer but I know in May what to expect. My granddaughter loved the kids club and couldn't get enough of it. The last day was a lousy day though but the days in Bermuda were sunny and cool. We went to Hamilton and went shopping and had lunch at a great place. I decided I won't travel anymore until the chemo is done with as it only gets me depressed that I can't do much. But all in all it was a great cruise and we made alot of friends. Plus we got all the time in Bermuda that we were suppose to get so know one should be complaining. You make the best out of it. Radio your pictures are great! I can't believe Meg is still going.... I'm sorry chemo kicked you but I am very happy you went and enjoyed youself. Yes, Debbie was on her red scooter and I did wear my CC shirt Sunday. The group was fun to be with and we did miss you and asked, among ourselves, if anyone had heard from you. ANYWAY, I'm sure I speak for the group when I say we are glad you made it and had fun, especially with the kids.

Cruiser 1998 Posted May 15, 2010 #325 Share Posted May 15, 2010 Radio , Great live postings , I really enjoy being along for the ride! Do you recall how much the scooters are to rent? Thanks Hi: I rented a scooter from the following company for my husband on our Feb 2010 cruise. It cost $495 for the 12-niter and it was delivered right to the room. Take a 220 to 110 converter so you can leave it in the hallway to charge (if there's room) or if you have a handicapped room, you're in luck. Good luck with the company that RCCL recommends.
