40+ Singles Cruise

Any suggestions for a female divorcee (not me) looking for a singles cruise for 40 year olds?

I imagine any of us divorced and sol passengers would be stuck wit a bunch of spring break loud mouth ,excess drinking college students on any so called single cruise.I do not choose to go on singles cruises per se as they attract singles that I would not choose to hang out with on dry land much less on the sea lol.I am in my late 40's and would prefer to pay more and go on a luzury cruise such as Crystal because one they do not cater to the carbival type passenger and also their single supplement is not bad in the lower category stateroooms.I suggest she look at an uppper end line even if it means sailing less frequently.

I've been on a singles cruise before. It was alot of fun but I did

not go to find a date. I went to be able to hang out with others and make

friends. I went with a friend and we met some other amazing people that I am still friends with today.

I would say it is not a place to find a significant other. Only a place to

enjoy others company.

.Two things to be aware of; historically there is about 3/2 women to men ratio. They are really quite expensive. Not really a situation to find a man.

Yes, there are certainly more women than men. They are a little bit more

expensive than other cruises but you also have several cocktail parties

with free drinks.

Except those of us who would like to find a man with a little money.

I cruise very often. I find that this now the one area that could stand the most improvement. I am in the hotel business and I understand the single suppliment. I hate it but I understand it. I often look in the capers and compass things for singles meet and greets .... they are almost never attended.

I have never sailed with the companies that put together singles groups. Mostly for two reasons, they cost more and they never reveal how many people are sailing .... I always feared it would be six people all of them about 80 and myself.

I am not looking to hook up at sea.... but like others it would be fun to be part of a group.

Singles cruises don't just use Carnival. I have done Singles cruises on Celebrity, Princess, Royal Caribbean and Carnival. They also use Holland America and NCL. I don't like Carnival's ships, so it is doubtfull I will cruise with them again. I am a active 40+ person, Princess and Celebrity are just too dull - Celebrity even closed all the pools at 8 pm.....just a little before my bedtime. Royal Caribbean is the perfect mix of beautiful ships, nice, active atmosphere, without the party crowd Carnival seems to attract. JMO

Oh and although you may not find your significant other, there are many who have done just that. In 2008 my friends who met on a singles cruise back in 2004 got married and had their honeymoon aboard ship as part of this singles cruise group. They were able to arrange a small, intimate, invitation only reception and it was one of the most memorable times of my life. I cannot say it happens every day but people have found love on these trips. If you just go with an attitude of having a good time, you will do just fine:)

I've cruised alone 2x, 2x with friends and in January 2011, I'm doing a Singles cruise on the Oasis.

I booked it a few months ago, and the price is not that much more. I'm using their room buddy system also.

It's only 1 week, it's not the rest of my life IF I really can't stand the person.

I want to go on the Oasis and thought it would be fun to try it with other singles.

I'm just going to have some fun and meet some men and women.

We might be on the same cruise. I am doing the Jan 15 Oasis of the Seas Singles cruise. This one is all about the ship - I can't wait to try the zip line and go on a flowrider again.

I look for groups which share my interests- for cruising, that's usually dancing. How many singles are with the group is important but secondary. I would be very reluctant to travel with a group where the only thing in common is being single. (Incidentally, it's not true that women like to dance- if I'm not with a dance group, I'm always sitting in the lounge alone.)

While I have close friends who do like to travel, most of them either aren't big fans of cruises, or can't really afford to do them (time or money wise). I've done two singles cruises previously, one was on the now-defunct Windjammer Cruiseline, and the second was on the Carnival Paradise. While the people were nice enough on the second one, I tend ot avoid Carnival in general now.

That being said, I'm looking at going on one of two different singles cruises that are both departing on October 30th of this year....one's on the Crown Princess, the other on the NCL Epic. I'm really torn, as while I"m leaning towards the Epic because they have some very cool stuff, I'm also a big Princess fan.

*sigh* Decisions, decisions! :D

I agree that singles cruises are less about "hooking up" than they are about being able to travel with a group than having to travel as a solo amidst a sea of couples and families. Though, to be fair, I find that traveling alone I probably meet a lot more new people than I do when traveling with a group of my own!

In any case, I'm jonesing for my next cruise. Took a quick 3-nighter on the Majesty of the Seas back in April, but I'm about ready for a good week-long sailing of some kind to re-charge my batteries! :p

Most of mt friends do not cruise I however would like too. But paying almost double or more for a cabin is outraggeous. They just build a bunch of new ships and No cabins for single people. I don't want to meet a partner I just want to cruise. Cruise lines wake up you are losing money on unsold cabins because of the price you are charging. I really wanted to do Alaska this year A friend back out. she and her hubby might do it next year I have traveled ( not cruise) with them before I have no problems. I do not want to room with a stranger. come on give us a break

I'll be on the Oasis in January also. I'm just looking to meet people who like to cruise and maybe in the future I'll have a cruising buddy so that I don't have to pay the single person supplement.

How much is the single supplement anyway?

Maybe you need to put yourself out there a little more in the area

of conversation and not just dancing. I'm just saying.;)

"If I'm not with a dance group, I'm always sitting in the lounge alone". Well, talking to myself, is an intelligent conversation. That's based on several cruises as a single/solo. I'll let you know how many single women I see in the lounge on my Adriatic cruise in November- I' alone on that one.

I've been on the Fun Ships several times. I don't use alcohol- most dancers don't- so if you're hanging out in bars, I likely won't see you. I'm where the decent dance music is, which can be anywhere. On one Fun Ship, I recall it was the guy in the casino who had the best music.

I'm on Costa Serena first two weeks in November, then Costa Fortuna , then Serena gain. These cruises I picked for the itineraries (Eastern Med), which I usually don't, but this is an area I've never really visited very much. I realize that there may not be very many other English-speaking passengers on these trips and probably no dance partners.

And regarding single supplements- the cruise portion (I'm also doing some land) is costing $3200 for 24 days. I think the single supplement is about 150%, but for comparison, 7 days on NCL Epic studio solo "no supplement" is $1200; Crystal 20 day TA, "125%", which was suggested as an alternative, $8000.
