Just curious re:baggage handlers strike in Italy

Has anyone ever been through this before? We are really trying to remain calm.:o Our flight is to arrive in Rome at 7:55am and the strike is to take effect from 10-6. Soooo if our flight gets off on time and we arrive at that time, we "should" be okay.We have also considered taking carry-ons. We just do not want to do this if possible. Just wondering what happens in these situations and if anyone else has ever gone through something like this?? Thanks
