Book another cabin or move to a mini-suite?

how did you get adjoining rooms - did you pay extra?

we are traveling with four teenagers and booked two rooms - still not assigned - we sail in 16 days -

thanks

You get adjoining or connecting rooms by picking the rooms when you book your cruise. If you booked a guarantee rate, your cabins may not be near each other when they are assigned.....could be anywhere on the ship, even on different floors.

Hi -- we couldn't get adjoining but they are very close by to one another...a few rooms away. It did cost us a little extra since we booked a new room. We are thinking it is worth it though, to have the extra space.

To 13cruise13, we might be going on the same cruise - 5/29, Jewel out of NYC?

As mentioned, the only way to get connecting or adjoining cabins is to pay the fare for specifically selected cabins, not book a guarantee where the cruise line chooses the cabins for you. GTYs can certainly be less expensive and sometimes you get a better cabin than you pay for, but you cannot choose your location or specific cabin. Did your TA suggest you book that way?

Are your two cabin bookings linked together? Please make sure they are. That will not guarantee that your cabins will be close together or even on the same deck, but it will at least give you a better chance of it. I'm actually a tad surprised you were able to get guarantee bookings with four teens in a cabin. Usually GTYs are only offered for two per cabin because of the limited number of cabins that can hold or can be booked with four passengers.

To be honest, I'd be rather concerned about this because it doesn't seem like the best thing to risk, for example, having four teenagers assigned to a cabin aft on deck 5 with the adults assigned to a cabin forward on deck 9. There are simply too many ways that even the best teens can get into trouble, and they could end up far away from your watchful eye (and help). The cruise line holds the adults responsible for supervising all minors, so make sure that you lay down the rules very firmly and insist that they be followed, no exceptions and no excuses, period.

You definitely need to call your TA or the cruise line if you booked direct with them and discuss your concerns. They aren't obligated to assign your cabins near each other, but it might help if you remind them that you've got four teens booked with you and you want to make sure you are near at hand.

p.s., If by some chance the teens get assigned a significantly better cabin than the adults, I suggest you tell them you are "swapping" cabins. I don't know what category you booked, but once in a while a GTY will be upgraded. Generally "upgrades" on GTYs are within type: book least expensive oceanview cabin and get assigned better oceanview cabin. But it's possible to book a category (say, oceanview) GTY and get assigned the next category up (in that case, balcony). Not a chance we'd have let our daughter as a teen have an assigned balcony while we stayed in an assigned oceanview. No way, no how--Not as long as we're footing the bill. JMHO, of course.
