Bob P Posted January 31, 2005 #1 Share Posted January 31, 2005 Hi All, We're looking for some feedback on the best places to snorkel---either excursions or on your own---on the Navigator's Western stops: Labadee, Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel. Any feedback would be appreciated! Thanks, Bob P
gkrebs Posted January 31, 2005 #2 Share Posted January 31, 2005 Labadee and Ocho Rios are out for snorkeling. Go to the Park in Cozumel on your own, snorkeling is good there. Also if you really like snorkeling and have consider scuba, do that with Eden Rock in Grand Caymen. You can snorkel on your own at eden rock , its a five minute walk from the tender piers and they have lockers you can rent and leave your stuff there all day if u want. 39august Posted January 31, 2005 #3 Share Posted January 31, 2005 gkrebs is right on! Not only is there good snorkeling at Chankanaab Park in Cozumel, but there is a beach, lovely surroundings, and places for food and drink. It's a quick taxi ride from the pier. Eden Rock at Grand Cayman is great snorkeling but no beach. It is literally a ROCK! After tendering in, turn to your right as you face the street and walk about 3 blocks. You will pass a cafe called Paradise and Eden Rock is next. There is a ladder down into the water and it is not very deep at all. LOTS of fish and coral. I advise you go early, as this is also a popular spot for divers and can get crowded later. (There is a dive shop at Eden Rock, and they will rent you a locker if you want.) chriscamp Posted January 31, 2005 #4 Share Posted January 31, 2005 I think you really need to consider a stingray city / snorkle trip in Grand Cayman. We were not able to stop at CG 2 weeks ago due to rough seas, but I'm sure it would have been the highlight of our cruise.
Sheffie Posted January 31, 2005 #5 Share Posted January 31, 2005 We have been snorkeling many places, and I have to rate the excursion to Sting Ray city at the top of the "to do" list. We just went there on a ship's excursion and didn't see any other reefs. Check out the following. Most, or all, also go somewhere else to see the underwater life. Here is a list of the Grand Cayman excursions that people on cruisecritic have recommended: Sailboats: Buccaneer: http://caymanislandsdiscounts.com/Stingray_City_Buccaneer_Excursion.htm Captain Bryan’s: http://grandcaymancruiseexcursions.com/StingrayCityCaptBryans.htm Motorized: Captain Marvin’s: http://www.captainmarvins.com Nativeway: http://www.nativewaywatersports.com/shiptours.html Sotos: http://www.sotoscruises.com Kelly’s Watersports http://www.kellyswatersports.com

mbisson Posted February 1, 2005 #7 Share Posted February 1, 2005 We have been snorkeling many places, and I have to rate the excursion to Sting Ray city at the top of the "to do" list. I'll second that. Those Rays are really memorable and might be one of the coolest things I've done in my life. -Monte
MizzCard Posted February 1, 2005 #8 Share Posted February 1, 2005 My son and his girlfriend did the stingray city last year, and we're doing it ourselves in April. I like to save Cozumel for Carlos & Charlies and Senor Frogs :D
