scottbee Posted May 20, 2010 #26 Share Posted May 20, 2010 Start at the corner of Government Street and Humbolt Street, head north on Government st for shops, otherwise you're right on the water.
Langley Cruisers Posted May 24, 2010 #27 Share Posted May 24, 2010 Gosh, such a drag that the stop in Victoria is only 4 hours. That's not near enough time to visit. Hmm. :( I miss Victoria sometimes - lived there fore 35 years. I would walk to town, and take a cab or maybe a Kabuki Kab (pedi-taxi) back to the pier. That could be fun. melodyrg Posted May 27, 2010 #28 Share Posted May 27, 2010 We will be in port from 7PM-Midnight on Thursdsy, July 22nd. Is there a convenient and reasonably priced way to get from the pier to Butchart Gardens & back? Any information would be greatly appreciated.;)

Any information would be greatly appreciated.;) There is CVS Cruise Victoria who operate the shuttle service from the terminal into town. From there you can transfer to one of there buses that will take you out to the Gardens and back. Here is a link for them. www.cvscruisevictoria.com/

Is there a convenient and reasonably priced way to get from the pier to Butchart Gardens & back? Yikes. Since that's not a lot of time, I would look into a ship's tour. I don't normally recommend them because they are more expensive, but at least you don't have to transfer and you can get to the Gardens as soon as humanly possible. You may not be able to disembark right at 7, and you'll need to be back for 11:30 pm. This leaves little precious time, actually. The Gardens are delightful and could take several hours. The trip is at least 35 - 45 minutes each way. A ship's tour would guarantee that you get back in time, or at least they will wait for you. Have fun. :)

You bet they are, on August 12, sunset in Victoria is not until about 8:35 pm and there is twilight until 9:10 pm plus the gardens are illuminated after dark.:)
Smeecanada Posted June 6, 2010 #34 Share Posted June 6, 2010 anyone know if theres an area near downtown with shops and view of the ocean? If you are here on a Saturday night there is usually a market setup at Ship's Point right at the Inner Harbour in July/August. Lots of buskers about as well. Mainly residential housing along the water not much retail business. Main tourist shopping is just up from the Inner Harbour on Government Street. Smeecanada Posted June 6, 2010 #35 Share Posted June 6, 2010 Is it worth seeing the Gardens at night? We will be there August 12. Most definitely. The gardens will be illuminated at dusk. It's one of their biggest draws. In the summer there is also nightly musical entertainment. It is well worth walking through the gardens twice if you can - before illumination and after. If you are only in Port for a short time - definitely take the ship's tour so that you are back at Port in time. It's about a 30 minute drive to the Gardens from the Port.
