Carnival Cake

That is excellent!!! Love both the cakes. My latest art project is more mundane (and not edible :(). I printed out the deck plans for my ship, cut them out and attached them to a key ring. Voila! A 3-D ship map!

I am TOTALLY STEALING this idea! You are a genius.

My next ship is the Magic and I have a newbie going with me. I'll make one for me and one for her. Did you laminate them?

When getting ready for our last cruise, I made this for a friend for her birthday and had a great time trying to add the Carnival elements to it...

I thought it might be fun to start a thread to see if anyone else has done some creative cruise-based projects... short of figuring out how to smuggle booze, power bars, curling irons, elephants, etc etc :)

Wow that's an incredible cake! I bet your friend loved it...I know I'm drooling now :)

Carnival should sell these !! Would it be a copyright infringement if you were to make them and sell them on ebay ? You could advertise on CC; I would buy one !

Oh, but they are so easy to make! I used legal sized index stock paper and MS Publisher. I reduced each deck plan to 60% to get them to fit on the page. I'm hoping it will give DH and I an edge in the ship scavenger hunt! ;)

(I was showing DH my map and I think he finally got the scope of the ship. He said he'd need to put an ankle monitor on me in case we get separated! )

Some people have fun by attempting to get a ship in a bottle or vice-versa!

Holy smokes! I gained weight just LOOKING at those cakes! Nice job, guys! ;)

I don't have a craft per se, but I bought a picture frame recently. We don't sail until December, so we have to wait until then to fill it.

The frame is black (24" long x 7" high). The letters are cut out, so that's where you put your photos.

I thought it was cool...but then again, maybe everyone but me has seen them!

Sorry about the crappy pic. Lost my camera last month so this was with a cell phone.

Wicked cool photo frame! Where did you get it?

This evening's art project was inspired by all the talk about chair hogs. I thought I would print this out, laminate it and leave it on my chair while I take a swim. Maybe I can get some free drinks out of it! :D:D

(hmmm.... maybe I should make some extra maps and sell them for DOD's while on board...... ;) )

So, here's my cheeky chair hog sign.....

That is awesome.

I had a "Carnival party" a few months ago.

Some great friends here on CC sent me some DOD cups, we had themed seek & find and trivia contests (Caribbean islands, names of the public areas on the Liberty), a beanbag tournament ("cornhole"), karaoke, a laptop set up with a slideshow of our fave cruise pics set to my cruise playlist music, our fave Carnival food (chili dogs, southwest chicken egg rolls, jerk pork loin, shrimp cocktail, etc.) and sugar cookies in the shapes of anchors and ships (decorated in Carnival red, white and blue). Stocked a cooler with our favorite Mexican and Caribbean beer (Red Stripe, Sol, etc.).

The grand prizes of the night were beach bags, each with a beach towel, travel sized goodies, a set of CD's of cruise music. One of the MOST fun parts was that a couple that we met here on CC (and sailed with) flew all the way up from FL for the party and to surprise my DH.

I decorated the walls, my kids and I made signs that had places from around the ship (our next sailing is on the Liberty)...above the "drink buffet" was the name of the lido deck bar, above the food was a sign that had the name of the Lido buffet, set up "Camp Carnival" in one of the bedrooms for the kids to hang out in (and play "pin the whale tail on the ship" that the kids and I made). I had some red, white & blue balloons on the tables, along with some of the little towel animal beanie babies my kids picked up in the giftshop onboard.

I had a small roulette wheel set up (with a sign over it saying, "Czar's Palace casino" like the Liberty).

I had 50 buttons made up as party favors that had fun things (some I stole from the self-proclaimed "Whale Tail Club" titles that are so fun), that people chose out of a bowl when they entered...

I wanna go to that party! :)

Mama, I love your cruise wall! I see you found a similar frame. Where did you get yours? We saw them at a local "home show"---lots of lawn and garden vendors and a few craft-like booths.

I've never bought a souvenir BEFORE a trip! :D

I got mine online from this cool place called "lupos art gallery" online that has since gone out of business, though I've seen them at some arts & crafts fairs around here as well. I did some that said, "grandkids" for my parents and inlaws with pics of their grandkids in them, those went over well too. :D
