Magen's Bay--How early does it "open"?

Recommended Posts

We have an early arrival (7 am) in St. Thomas and want to head to Magen's Bay Beach early. How early does it "open"? What time would someone be there to take your admission and rent chairs?

There are many ships in port that day and we are hoping we could get in ahead of the crowds!

Thanks!

Thanks! That is the information I was looking for!

We are in St.Thomas on a very busy day, many ships in port, but really want to go to Magens Bay (never been) so thought we would go right for 8 AM and beat the crowds for a little while anyway!

That's the best plan, get there early and stake out your territory - either with or without renting chairs. Depending on ship count it can get a bit crowded but hey, it's all fun and you're at Magen's Bay! If you want the action, stay close to the food/bar shack. If you like less people, walk far left (facing the bay). And for fun, get in front of the webcam and call your friends back home. It's by the chair rental stand - not the best resolution but it's fun to see. (www.gotostthomas.com) Enjoy...:D

Magens Bay is always open. The gate is never closed. The gatehouse/ticket booth opens at 8ish... maybe 7:45am for collecting entrance fees. If you get there before they open... its free.

Typically around 7:30-8am there are a few dozen people on the beach. Mostly residents excercising - running, jogging, swimming, biking etc. By 9-9:30am the taxi/tours start arriving.
