How easy to catch a cab.....

Tar Heels

Recommended Posts

The cabs are usually mini vans or micro-busses and they are lined up waiting to take you back to the pier and to town. No problem.

However -- they like to ride full. So if you're the first aboard, you might have to wait a few minutes.

You can also take public transportation for a fraction of a cab fare. We took it from port to Cemetary Beach and back. When we were ready to return we walked down the road until one of the vans came by and honked. If you wave, they stop and pick you up. Cost a couple of bucks.

The depot is to your left when you exit the tender area. Walk a couple of blocks and it is on the right of the road.
