luvtcrz Posted May 16, 2010 #1 Share Posted May 16, 2010 I was recently reading through the dress requirements for the Liberty of the Seas. It had mentioned that on a 7 day cruise, there were 2 formal nights, 2 semi-formal nights and 3 resort casual nights. I have no problem with the formal nights, but was wondering what does semi-formal really mean? Does that mean a nice Sunday dress, or are we talking a little more formal than that? I am the group of leader of 12 and really want to get them the right info. Thanks!!
socalcruiser23 Posted May 16, 2010 #2 Share Posted May 16, 2010 Semi-formal means nothing, honestly. I've recently read that there are no semi-formal nights, only 2 formal and the rest casual. If your cruise does have semi-formal, or smart-casual as RCI calls it, jeans and t-shirts are fine. Most people will not observe it. You will even see VERY informal outfits on formal nights. Have fun! Don't worry about the dress codes:)
Happy ks Posted May 16, 2010 #3 Share Posted May 16, 2010 I have no idea why RCI still lists semi-formal in their literature, it's generally 2 formal nights and the rest casual. That's not to say you can't get a little more dressed up if you wish. I am starting to prefer taking jersey knit dresses for casual nights instead of pants/tops. Easier to pack, less pieces to pack and they don't wrinkle. Our last 7 night cruise I took 2 cocktail dresses for formal nights, one pair of cropped pants I wore 3 of the nights (had them dry cleaned once) with 2 tops (wore one of the tops first and last nights, then 2 jersey dresses for the other 2 nights. Day wear pretty much the same idea.

sandravb79 Posted May 17, 2010 #5 Share Posted May 17, 2010 Just off the Liberty: only 2 formal nights (and many people dressed not too formally), other nights were casual. Have fun!
cb at sea Posted May 17, 2010 #6 Share Posted May 17, 2010 Only the longer cruises do the "smart casual".....you'll be fine with just formal and casual!
