Storing luggage in Southampton??

L ater this year, my wife and will be doing a "kind of" World Tour. Australia to UK on Oriana and return on Arcadia. Being on these ships for a total of 3 months and, for the first time while cruising, needing larger amounts of clothing for other reasons (going from summer to winter and back to summer :p) and the increased "formality" of P&O UK ships, we are going to need more clothing/luggage than when we usually travel. This would not be such of a problem - EXCEPT that we will be having 19 days in the UK between cruises and will be going to London. We won't really need 2/3 of the clothing when in London, so am wondering if there is any way we could store luggage in Southampton between cruises.

Any thoughts please?

Thanks

Barry

you could try southampton airport - you may need to be flying with them, but its worth a try.

look at this link

http://www.southamptonairport.com/assets/Internet/Southampton/Southampton%20downloads/Static%20Files/SOU_Cruise_leaflet_Sep08.pdf

There is a contact for left luggage on central section of the first part and the advert is on the right hand side of the 2nd.

(it says from £5 per day (2008 prices?) & that restrictions apply.)

did a quick search, but couldn't find anything on the main site (http://www.southamptonairport.co.uk)

there are other storage companies around, like safeStore who appear to allow storage from 1 week

http://www.safestore.co.uk/storage/southern_england/southampton/southampton.aspx?utm_source=BAM&utm_medium=advertorial&utm_term=southampton%2Bsolent%2Buni&utm_campaign=student_apr09

its a £5 -£10 taxi trip from the terminals.

People who do sectors of world cruises, which depart and arrive back at Southampton, can put luggage on board in advance, and similarly vice versa if coming back from OZ.

I don't see why P&O could not store the luggage that is not required for your UK stay until you board again for the second leg of your cruise.

Just ask them.
