Thanks Carol! I booked guaranteed cabin so have no idea where I'll be til I embark)...I'd love to meet the Customers Relations Manager so I can complain about the single supplement (but unfortunately tried letters to president and that didn't work!).

Gathering my souvenirs from Toronto for the "gift exchange"...

Only two weeks to go!! icon7.gif Hoping for a "warm" spell as well since I like to pack light but probably not likely!

Invite them all. :) I added my name and cabin# below.

No invites. Probably because, unlike Celebrity, you don't register online for the party so they don't really know who is a member and who isn't. I like the way Celebrity does it better.

Think I should send invites to the Captain, Cruise Director, Captains Club rep, etc.? I've read that is what some groups do to get them to show up, and sometimes they show sometimes not. Might be fun to have an official or two show up??

Who would you all like to chat with? Captain, Staff Captain, Hotel Manager, Cruise Director, Asst. CD, Maitre'd, Captains Circle Hostess, Customer Relations Manager??

We can send our own invites if you want to post cabin numbers. They get delivered to your cabin from the pursers desk, or you might catch me running up and down the hall!! Here's the list for whoever would like an invite, just add your cabin number:

Hello cruisers!!

We're new to use this cool "roll call" board. Bare with us as I am having some silly issues with it ~ but I think I got it!!

We will be on board this cruise without our kidlets (this is huge as we have 5 little ones!!). Originally we were on the coastal from LA to Vancouver but there was some overbooking and we were offered Alaska!!! How could we NOT resist!!

This will be our 3rd trip to Alaska!! 2009 with NCL, 2010 with Celebrity and double bonus this year ~ May with Princess and August with Disney (shhh... the kidlets do not know we're taking them and hoping to hold off as long as possible!! They will be sooo excited!!)

Look forward to meeting others!! We're here from Vancouver and will sky train to the ship and bus home from Seattle to Vancouver on the return.

Blessings,

Stacy & Dino

Thank you Carol for the list!! This is great!!

I was just reading through the "Princess" posts and here's a list of "secrets"(??) Tom, your drink question is in there, it says $2.99 after 8pm, good deal!

• Complementary plate of assorted stuffed olives at the martini bar.

• Pre purchase internet minutes before you leave you’ll get free minutes based on the package you pick.

• Escargot!!!

• Insulated travel coffee mug

• One of the dining rooms will be open for lunch on embarkation day.

• Volcano dessert, available on children's menu basically a huge banana split.

• When you open the little door under the TV for the plug, well, there are extra outlets not being used. But not if it’s a flat screen

• Ask for Egg crates, top sheet, robe, slippers, bed topper, and upgraded pillows.

• Always ask if there is a charge.

• Under your bed is more bedding.

• Cocktails for $2.99 in all the bars after 8.00pm.

• Request that the steward remove the soft drinks and bottled water from inside and on top of the fridge to make room for our own drinks.

• Request extra hangers.

• Passenger Service Desk (also called the Hotel Manager) will make a hole in our card which we hang on lanyards. They will also do that for you in the casino and give you a lanyard.

• There is another electrical point under the bed.

• Bring a roll of quarters and laundry supplies.

• If you decide to eat in a specialty restaurant you may want to make the reservation for the last night

• Sabatini’s reservation for the night that they are serving Italian food in the main dining room.

• Reservations for the steak house ask to sit at the counter overlooking the kitchen area, fun to watch the staff put it altogether and see the teamwork involved.

• The Fettuccine Alfredo!!! Plus it’s served in a Parmesan bowl, a crispy melted cheese bowl.

• Bring along a small electric alarm clock.

• On the first day, we simply ask to see the week’s menus and look over what’s happing for the week. Then make plans for the week there and then. The MD or any head waiter can show them to you.

• Can go up to the Spa to shower.

• Take 3 or 4 of those black metal binder clips or plastic clothes pens and hang them on the bottom edge of the shower curtain.

• Computer station in the Future Cruise booking area or Internet Cafe, free e-postcard, 300 character limit but you could send more than one message to the same email address if you need to get a longer message out.

• Befriending the maitre'd, the head waiter, and everyone who takes care of you.

• Appetizers and sushi are free in the Vines wine bar but not the cheese.

• When you get off of the elevator to go to your room, one side of the ship on every passenger deck the hallways have blue carpeting. The other side has blue carpeting but there is some red in that side.

• Duck liver pâté appetizer.

• Various lamb entrees.

• Last night of the cruise, head up to the Horizon Court (or the International Café) for some pre-travel treats. Cookies are always available. We put a couple cookies in our zip loc bag(s) for our travel home the next day.

• Ask for anchovies on your caesar salad at dinner.

• Take a pop-up mesh hamper for your dirty clothes.

• Empty luggage? The Steward will stow it for you.

• Find out when/where the Muster drill is and go get your life jacket. Take it with you a little ahead of time and "beat the crowd".

• Highlighters for Princess Patters and highlight times/ places/ activities, etc for the next day

• Sticky notes for when spouse sleeps in to leave a note on the MIRROR or DOOR

• Magnet to put it on the door.

• Water bottles for on shore.

• Clothes line in the bathroom for swimming clothes

• On disembarkation day if you are trying to get on an elevator to get down to the disembarkation decks, push the up button, ride up and then down as the up elevators are not full.

• We take our empty water bottles up to the buffet and fill them from the water spigots there (late at night just before we go to bed) oh and we might pick up some desserts to eat too lol!!!

• twice-baked goat cheese soufflé,

• Lobster and Scampie Dinner with a side of Alfredo.

• Purex 3-in-1 strips

• air freshner

• waterproof case, that will go around your neck and will hold your ID, cruise card, credit card etc. while swimming/snorkeling in port.

• empty beach bag a place to put all your purchases

We are Ann and David from Southern California and we are joining you on the Golden Princess for the Alaska cruise. We considered disembarking in Victoria to stay for the weekend and take part in the Victoria Day activities and especially see the parade which I believe is on Monday. Is there then a reasonable way for us to go from Victoria to Seattle?

I was told there is a ferry but I think it is $160+ for the 2 of us one way which is too much for us.

A bit about us. We like to travel and cruising is our favorite mode of travel. So we have been to Canada several times and really like Vancouver Island. We like to play trivia, ride bikes (Stanley park is great). play games like euchre, dominoes, bowl, etc. Please add us to the meet and greet. Since we are on a guarantee, we still do not have a cabin assignment yet. See you in Vancouver!!

Geez, that sounds so expensive for a ferry ride. Hope one of our residents from B.C. can give you a cheaper alternative.

The Clipper will take you to Seattle but as you noted, the price is more like $$180.00 with the fuel supplement. There are also slower ferries but they would take you to either Port Angeles or Anacortes which would be a long bus trip to Seattle, not very doable really. Kenmore Air, which runs float planes between the two cities would run $170.00/person so would be even more but at least it would be fun. Hope this helps.

You may have trouble with accomodations with all the Visitors to Victoria and especially the number of bands that stay in Victoria the whole week-end. Kenmore sometimes has last minute specials but I doubt on Victoria day or the day following. The only other possibility to check is the car rentals that need to be returned to the states. Those interested there will probably be concerts in the bandshell at Beacon Hill Park and in front of the Parliament Buidings on the Friday evening we are there. For sure the inner harbour will be humming with the influx of many thousand guests here for the Victoria Day Parade on Monday. :):):)

Welcome to all the newbies! Yes, the Coastal cruise has been sold out for like 6 months now! WOW!! We are on both and fortunately now have a confirmed cabin (we were on GTY suite status for about a year so were starting to panic!!!). Can't wait to get going already. 7 days till we sail, 14 till we meet you all.

Just wondering what all the cruisers who are going from the Golden to the Sapphire have planned. I've been to Vancouver before. Granville Island is a fun place to stroll around. I see that there are 2 different waterfront parks near the pier and the Convention Center. I checked to see if anything was going on there on Saturday and there is an Epic Living Expo that sounds interesting. I may just go there, so that I can get on the Sapphire ASAP, especially if the weather is not very good that day.

Wooo hooo! Final packing going on here because we are boarding the Sapphire to head north come Saturday the 7th. We won't have internet access so we can't check the boards next week, but we look forward to meeting everyone on the 15th at 11am. We'll bring a couple of little gifts from the San Diego region. :)

Carol & Jim: Lots of water rushing in the rivers and creeks from the Sierra Nevada. There must be numerous gold samples available! See you soon! I suspect it will be cool and moist along the Inside Passage. Tom

Gold would be a nice exchange gift! :)

No, no, skibear!! The water is too high now, you have to wait for the water to go down aways then you can take your little gold pan to the creek and pan it!!! :p Our town nickname is "Hangtown" so I'm thinking a noose might be a good exchange! Think I'd get past airline security??

You know it's suppose to rain on Sunday!! I don't believe it, crazy weather. Guess you'll be getting more snow up there. Looked at the extended forecast for Vancouver and it shows - rain, darn it!

Hi Carol & Jim: Yes, I hope it snows on Sunday! Skiing was great today at Alpine Meadows. An idea:  Get some oysters in Vancouver and have the ship's chef prepare "Hangtown Fry." Unfortunately oysters aren't generally harvested during months without an "r".

Wha'd'ya think, we use fresh oysters up here!!!:p LOL (Guess that's down here to you!) Canned is about as close to fresh oysters as this cowtown gets!! Hubby loves Hangtown Fry, they have them at a couple of restaurants in town. I can pass! If we went oyster fishing, what do you call oyster fishing, harvesting?, anyway - if we got fresh ones they might cook them. I think if you take a fishing excursion and bring back fresh fish they cook it for you. That's a definite, I think because I'm not really sure but sounds reasonable!!!

Skiing??? It was in the 80's today! I'm enjoying all this nice weather until next week when we have to brave the rain and cold!

Hello Carol & Jim,

Thank you so much for organizing a get together!! Great idea!! We would be delighted to come meet other cruisers. I will collect a few souvenirs to bring too!!

Crossings fingers for warmer weather!! We had monsoon rain this morning and a massive hail storm this afternoon. I had to race outside and cover all my veggie seedlings before they were flattened!! It has been crazy here!!

Guess its an extra suitcase for the extra clothing!!

7 sleeps and counting...

Sorry it has been so long since I have posted anything, it has been a busy few months. We are now the Grandparents to a set of twin boys so we have been traveling back and forth from Florida to Tennessee. We are still coming on the cruise and I see the M&M will be the 15th at 11am. We will be there. We are flying to Vancouver on Friday and staying at the Pan Pacific which they tell me is right at the port so we should not get lost. We are looking forward to Alaska even thought I am now a warm weather person since moving to Florida from Connecticut. Hope it warms up a little. Well. see everyone soon and I hope all your travels be safe. George & Rhonda.:)
