compozer Posted May 28, 2010 #1 Share Posted May 28, 2010 I know we will have a couple bottles of wine leftover. People keep giving us bottles and I'm getting tired of drinking. We will be staying in Vancouver for four days. So, will they charge us. When we boat in Lake Michigan and go to Canada, they charge us foir our own liquor -- if we tell them. So I was wondering if they will charge us at customs. thanks
Putterdude Posted May 28, 2010 #2 Share Posted May 28, 2010 Each adult is entitled to bring into Canada 1.5 litres of wine (two .750 litre bottles) or 1.14 litres of alcohol duty free. Any amount over this is subject to duty and taxes but by the sound of your post you will only be dealing with a couple of bottles of wine so you should be ok and frankly if you are a bottle over and are honest about it...customs will probably say "enjoy your visit in Vancouver" they really don't wan't to get involved in collecting duty and taxes on an extra bottle of wine.
