Himself Posted June 2, 2010 #2 Share Posted June 2, 2010 The AMSTERDAM will be in Ketchikan as her first port of call as the ship chugs up to toward Ankorage on here second of the 14 day journeys to Alaska. Wish I was there.

ctsally Posted June 2, 2010 #4 Share Posted June 2, 2010 What are they doing to the beautiful Noordam in this drydock? Why is it there? I certainly hope they are not doing the unthinkable and moving the library to the crow's nest or ruining the ship by eliminating the aft pool for a wading puddle. Hi Sally - There isn't time in this dry-dock to do any major work like that. This is an impromptu dry-dock (one was scheduled for Jan 2011) after the charter for the World Cup housing was canceled. ctsally Posted June 2, 2010 #6 Share Posted June 2, 2010 Thanks, John. I knew you'd have the answer for me. :) Now I can "rest easy" until HAL decides to do something drastic to the dear Noordam.
RuthC Posted June 2, 2010 #7 Share Posted June 2, 2010 I certainly hope they are not doing the unthinkable and moving the library to the crow's nest or ruining the ship by eliminating the aft pool for a wading puddle. There's no reason for either of these things to be done to the Noordam. Whatever those changes accomplished on the various ships, was already in place on the Noordam. The library was moved on the other Vista ships to make way for high-end shops; those were on the Noordam from the beginning. The poolette on the Veendam and Rottedam raised the aft "pool" (such as it is) to the Lido Deck. It's already on Lido Deck on the Noordam.
ctsally Posted June 2, 2010 #8 Share Posted June 2, 2010 Whew!......thanks, Ruth C. It would be not only horrendous, but a tragedy (IMO) to desecrate the wonderful Noordam by making any changes.
Himself Posted June 2, 2010 #9 Share Posted June 2, 2010 Perhaps they might be changing carpeting or perhaps doing some mainence work on the bottom of the ship.
