Any cruise in the Caribbean during the months of Aug. or Sept. are going to be very "Discounted" because of the risk.

I have always said, if you cruise then, you should spend most of your time in the casino, because you people are the real gamblers. :p

HOpe This Helps.

That is a great deal, but vis-a-vis insurance please see my earlier post.

That's avery good deal. INMO most cruisers should purchase insurance anyway so that would cover the hurrican issue. The odds of having your cruise affected by a hurrican are low but it can happen. The other factor to consider is that it will be REALLY hot in August - some like that idea but some are bothered by it.

Is that including tax? If it is it is a very good deal.

Good deal. I would only make the following suggestions:

If you live within driving distance, get to the departure port city a day early.

If you plan on flying - fly in 2 days before to give some extra time, should flights be cancelled for a day (This happened to us in 2005 due to a hurricane - we fortunately had a day extra planned into our trip and got to the port in time).

Ditto the insurance suggestion, but make sure it does cover hurricanes. Of course, if you opt for insurance you don't need to get to the departure city that early :)

We sailed last August with hurricanes Bill and Danny and only had one hour of rain. Unless your port city is getting hit on the day of embarkment or disembarkment you should be okay. Be prepared for changes to your itinerary. It might be best to book excursions through the ship or at least verify refund policies in advance.

One other risk, if it matters, is that cruises sometimes choose to miss a port due to weather. There are no guarantees that you will stop at every stop shown on the itinerary. But that's true no matter when you sail and it's true on every cruise line....just higher risk during hurricane season.

We drive toPort Everglades; and, we normally park at Park N Fly which is very convenient, but we hardly ever cruise in hurricane season, due to the problems which we might have at home in the event of such a storm. And, as averyone is aware, all the "experts" are predicting one of the most extreme seasons on record. But who knows.
