Maybaybie10 Posted June 3, 2010 #1 Share Posted June 3, 2010 My TA has given us the rates for our insurance and I'm happy with them but I'm not sure if we should pay for it now. We haven't booked the air yet, as our cruise isn't until a year from now. I think she said she can adjust the insurance to add the air later on. It is also refundable if for some reason the crusie is canceled. Is there any advantage or disadvantage to purchasing the insurance now? This is my first time with it so I'd appreciate any insight. Thank you!
marci22 Posted June 3, 2010 #2 Share Posted June 3, 2010 If you want "cancel for any reason", you usually have to book it within a certain time frame of your first deposit (for ex. within first 14 days).
Marie51 Posted June 3, 2010 #3 Share Posted June 3, 2010 I buy insurance when I make the final payment (usually 60 days before sailing) because before final payment you can get your money refunded if you need to cancel.

For readers in the UK..... this does not apply to you.... you lose your deposit :(
KITKAT0229 Posted June 3, 2010 #5 Share Posted June 3, 2010 Depending on the terms of your plans, normally for pre-existing conditions you have to purchase your travel insurance within 21/30 days of initial trip deposit.
Aviator of the Seas Posted June 3, 2010 #6 Share Posted June 3, 2010 I would buy it ASAP. Look at what happened with the Icelandic volcano. It is now a known event and insurance bought after April 15 will not cover disruptions because of the volcano. Those who purchased before April 15 are covered. If something else occurs between now and your cruise, and you have not purchases the insurance, you might be out of luck.
