What happens to on board credit if you don't spend it?

WE have OBC from 1-2-3 offer. Read on Celebrity site today that one cannot use credit in casino, Since everything else is paid for, that was our plan. How do I get around that?

Also on the site it said valet luggage pickup was $20 per person. Is that they same as leaving the luggage outside your cabin the last night and then picking it up the next day in the departure location? I do not recall even paying for that service ever.

As this thread has mentioned probably 20 times, the restriction on using OBC in the casino is not enforced. As long as you're fine paying the fee, you can just go to the casino and ask for however much you have in OBC and they'll give it to you.

The $20 service is for Luggage Valet, which takes your luggage from the ship to the airport and checks it for you - you put your bags out the last night of the cruise and the next time you need to deal with them is in your arrival airport.

Is the shareholders OBC combinable with other OBC's like ones from the TA

As long as the OBC IS IN FACT from your TA. If it is really from Celebrity, no.

Shareholder isn't combinable with any perks that X gives.

TA issued OBC should show as OBR- Refundable OBC, as they actually "Buy" it and pay for it themselves, like how Gifts by Celebrity works, or people who buy it in advance for various reasons. If it shows as OBN- It's likely really from X and the TA is passing to off to you as from them, or the TA gifted it to you out of a package of perks the Line may issue them based on their sales volume.

We have $500 OBC for our upcoming cruise in March. $300 for 123GO and $200 for booking on board. None of this is refundable because it is provided by Celebrity. On our last cruise we had OBC provided by our travel agent which we didn't spend we got refunded. As a non American we took the refund in cash to use later. Our currency is pretty volatile against the US dollar at the best of times so US dollars come in handy. Had it gone back onto the credit card it would have just been absorbed into general expenses.

If I post a casino play withdraw, taking it from my credit card that is posted with ship (we charge to our on board account for play),

will they use the OBC to pay for our casino bill? As they do on all other ships I have been on.

All my OBC is directly from Celebrity.

Thanks!

Yes and no. It is a little more complicated. This is what I wrote following our latest cruise:

On Board Credit

There was a great deal of discussion about OBC before we left for this cruise and it was one of the things I promised to report back about.

We started the cruise with a large amount of OBC [non-refundable] from Celebrity and even more purchased OBC [refundable] so, on embarkation, I did not register a credit card. I really did not want any refundable surplus to go onto our credit card and take an exchange rate hit as we could always use it on another cruise. We did, however, want to get access to some of the OBC as cash during the cruise for our additional gratuities and to use in the Casino.

Early on, my husband checked with the Casino that [in a PH] we could draw out cash without paying the surcharge. We could but, as there was no letter about this in our suite, I am not sure which suites receive this concession.

My husband withdrew the first amount without any problem. The next time he tried, he was told that he could not unless a credit card was registered to the account. We asked the Michael's Club to clarify this as it did not seem reasonable with the amount of OBC we had.

The clarification was: if you still have unused non-refundable OBC, you cannot withdraw cash from the Casino without registering a credit card. We still had roughly US$150 non-refundable OBC. The original cashier had made an error. We registered our credit card and were then able to continue withdrawing cash.

We had credit left at the end of the cruise and I was able to withdraw that, in cash, at Guest Relations on the final day.

Here is the important part: the total withdrawn from the Casino plus refunded at the end of the cruise exceeded the refundable OBC.

OK, so I'm still confused!

We are getting $300 OBC from the Go Best promotion (please no debates about whether that's a good deal - I've read the posts and done the math). We are also getting the premium drink package, pre-paid gratuities and unlimited internet, so there are 3 things we won't be using it for!

If any of that $300 is left at the end of the cruise (if we don't buy excursions, or spa services, or specialty dining), is it refundable or not?

Probably not, you have to take it out in the Casino less 5%.

The key is to see if it is coded on your invoice as OBN or OBR - Non refundable or Refundable. Typically X issued OBC is OBN-non refundable, but this can be taken at Casino.

If you have OBR, then it will refund to your credit card when you leave the ship.
