JohnR49er Posted February 4, 2005 #1 Share Posted February 4, 2005 Happened to check the Princess site today and found they have replaced the Tundra Tour with the Natural History tour. One of the reasons for choosing this tour was a 2-night stay in Denali and having time to take the longer and better Tundra Tour. This is tour 17S. Not sure if they have changed any others.
drdaddy Posted February 4, 2005 #2 Share Posted February 4, 2005 Check with your TA. They have changed those tours on alot of the cruisetours. If your tix (check the personalizer) has a "T" on the end, you might be alright. If it was changed to an "N", find out what gives. If you originally had the Tundra booked, you probably will keep it. Or so says my TA.
JohnR49er Posted February 4, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted February 4, 2005 Thanks Rob, When we booked, the tundra was included with a 2 night stay. I still have a "T" at the end of my booking number. I'm gonna have my TA check it out. I'll get on that tour one way or the other.

Nice scenery but it was a waste of time as far as wildlife sightings were concerned. Even if it turns into an extra-cost upgrade, go for the Tundra Tour! Good luck with your TA, have a great cruise, and enjoy Alaska!
Budget Queen Posted February 4, 2005 #5 Share Posted February 4, 2005 The problem- the Tundra tour seats have been booked up pretty completely with contractors. There is an explosion in Alaska travel with only so much availablity. Denali park is and should be the top priority of interior travel. AND anyone who has been there - will definately NEVER recommend even the Tundra Wilderness tour- which only goes a little more than half way into the Park. In this area farther is always better. I would go so far as to recomend you cancel any cruise tour that does NOT include the Tundra Wilderness tour. As an option- book the SHUTTLE YOURSELF to Fish Creek if only the Natural History is available. You will need to book this ahead- but will select your preferred time, pack in your own food and drink. Should be $23.75 since you will have already paid the $10 Park admission though the cruiseline??
JohnR49er Posted February 4, 2005 Author #6 Share Posted February 4, 2005 One of our traveling companions has talked with Princess and they say we have been "Grandfathered" into the Tundra tour. I guess it must be solidly booked and they had to close it out. Glad we booked early.
