Great review. You've got me very interested in booking this cruise next year. I'm looking at the 7 day that includes Boston and Maine.

The Glory is well decorated much more so than the Valor. The Valor was the last cruise I went on and by far the ugliest ship I've been on. Hopefully the Dream (my next cruise) is as nice as the Glory looks to be.

Hi, Radio:

Thanks for this wonderful live diary of your cruise. We are going on this cruise in August (first-time cruisers!) and this was really helpful. Even if the presence of many statues of Anubis, who is the ancient Egyptian god of the underworld, on the ship is a bit disconcerting.:D

Thanks Radio! I convinced dh to book the 7/31 cruise!:D I am going to wait till next Wed. to see if any pack and go rates come up, then will book thanks to your review!:D:D

Hey Pe4all!

Long time! I was on this sailing with Radio and I had a great time. Definitely do's: The wine tasting and pairing, Debbie the sommelier is terrific. Book the steakhouse at least one night and ask to have Jelena and other Jelena as your servers. Very sweet and funny. And go see Bruce in the piano bar. I had a blast with him on my trip. Just do me a favor and don't mention that time at Sweet Caroline's to him. We still talk and I have a sweet and innocent rep to protect with him! LOL!

Have a great time!

Happy Cruising,

Laura

I will be sad to leave Saint John. It is such a lovely city.

Love ready this report as I live about one hour from Saint John in Fredericton, which is the capital. I also grew up in Moncton, which is the largest city in NB.

You comment made me chuckle because, and NBers would probably agree, I have never heard Saint John described as a lovely city before. :)

Were there options for excursions outside the city?

Oh and there are more larger, traditional shopping malls in other parts of the city.

We will be taking our first cruise later this year, so it is fun to read all these different reports.

Radio, Thanks so much for the wonderful report. We are going in August and can't wait!

Are any of the pools indoors? Thanks!

Yes the Azure Pool (AFT) is indoor, but has a sliding roof that can be removed. . .

radio,

with 5 or 6 ships on cruises out of ny, will it be hard to find a parking spot? What happens is the parking lot is full?

There are usually only 3 Ships sailing from Manahattan (each on a different pier) You can park on the roof of the Pier your ship is sailing from. . .

HAL, CCL, NCL sail from Manahttan, and Cunard, and Princess sail from Brooklyn.

During most sailings, you should have no worries.

The food has been very good. Lobster was served on Elegant Night (first sea day).

I also liked the Fish and the pasta. We have had very good service in the Dining Room, and the menu choices have always be very tasty. I had lunch several days in the Red Sail (Lido), and most have been good, but there have been a few items that didn't fit with me :o (so I just got something different)

By any chance, do you have copies of the menus for this cruise? Thanks.

I noticed that a few of you have children working on the Glory. I would like to know who someone is. I just got off the Glory today (4 day only to Saint John), and I thought it was amazing. He is one of the male Glory Dancers, with dark hair. In the Just Rock show, he is the one that normally wears red, but the end few songs (Disco), he wears blue. I first saw him on the first sea day in Bar Blue during the Magic demonstration. I saw him that night, and I immediatly thought "Is that the guy that we saw today?". I saw him quite a bit these past few days, and wanted to know who he is (He's actually kinda cute ) And if any of you are in the golden dining room and have Rana and Putu as waiters, tell them that the girl that keeps ordering the warm chocolate melting cake says hi (Putu might know me as the girl who still wants a clear picture of him. When we took pictures, he was blurry in all 5, yet not one else was). Anyway, I would appreciate it if you could tell me who he is/where he is from. He is a great dancer. And I reccommend everyone sees the shows. The dancers are great, the singers Jess and Jake are pretty good (Jake sang to me last night, I just happened to be the female closest to the stage... I dont think he knew I am only 14). If you go by the casino the first night, you might see the Dave Strong Show Band. Dave is amazing on the sax, he plays on stage in both shows I believe. Not trying to steal the spotlight from you Radio, but thanks for your review. I fully enjoyed my cruise.

Hi Radio, wow what a great video, you know the cruise ship companies should hire you to do their advertising, you do such a great job.

Thanks for sharing and look forward to your next cruise what is the exact date in Sept so I can add it to my calendar.

Wow. I feel like I owe you flowers or a drink or something. Even though I am not going to Canada, I am going on the Glory in November. This review was exactly what I was looking for. Do you take requests? :-)

Of all the Carnival cruises you have been on which was your favorite ship and favorite destination?

Thank you very much. Now I have to go visit your website . . .

I"m looking forward to reading your report tonight, I just finished reading another report from the Glory and they said the ships wireless internet is not working and has been down for some time on deck 7 ... does anyone know anything about this? (I just booked deck 7 LOL)

Link- http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1240951

See post #60 - I thought it was an odd thing to mention, but they even talked to the internet manager and he said the equipment on the 7th floor has been broken for months.

Its a shame because we bring a lap top to send emails home, and check-in with work before dinner each day

She said that they had to go out of their room and to public spaces on other decks to get their lap top to work. I hope they are working on fixing this issue.

The video is incredible. Can I ask what software you use to create these videos?

  • 6 months later...

...but I was wondering if you could answer some ?s for me. I just booked the Glory to Canada for this August...won free cruise bingo on my last cruise and used it to get on the Glory (free cabin for DS-14 and his buddy and paid for a balcony for me, DH and our twin DDs-12). Gotta love that free cruise bingo!!!! So, I just read your fabulous review...love all the pictures. Thank you for taking the time to post this review...it answered most of my questions. But, I still have a few and I appoligize if, indeed, you already covered these somewhere in this thread. First, we were given a free 6A (OV) for 2 guests (which are located on Riviera deck 1) and we wanted to get a balcony for the other cabin (which are all located deck 6 and above). So, I requested the free cabin be an interior that we could book a balcony (for 4) across from. We got 6428 and therefore booked 6426 and they are located directly above the Bar Blue that has Karaoke. How crazy noisey will Bar Blue get? What time do they go to...12 am, 2 am or later? We are also doing your-time dining (did it on our last 2 cruises)...which MDR is it in and what level? Where is the Serenity deck located? It was on the aft- 1 deck under the lido deck- on the other ships we were on, but I don't see it there on the Gory's deck plans. I think I saw somewhere in this thread that it's forward. And lastly, is the Azure pool an adut only pool? Thank you so much. Enjoy your upcoming cruise on the Allure. I dream about trying her out someday and look forward to reading your live review.
