"LIVE" From Carnival Glory / June 14, 2010

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. . . Welcome to my last day at sea. Today is a day that is full of activities. We will have the debarkation Talk, Mini Golf, and Slot Tournaments.

There is also Win a Cruise bingo, and a lot of specials in the Fun Shops. The Game of Love (Marriage Show), and several Comedy acts will be held today. The reviews of the final Production Show (Just Rock), and the Farewell Party were very good.

The Casino, White Heat Disco, Piano Sing a Long in the Cinn-a bar, and Karaoke in the Blue Bar will end up late in the night ! There sure is something to do for everyone. I’m sure some passengers will catch up on their sleep today, because it will be back to the real world tomorrow as we arrive in New York City.

The fog horns are going strong (every 2 minutes), and there are not many passengers on deck. The Big twister slide is open however, and many of the kids love that ! I was told there are over 600 kids on board. . .

I will be in the Slot tournament today, so I hope to win a few. . .but I guess everyone hopes to win a few as well.

Here are a few pics from this morning, and thanks for all of the nice comments.

Pee-ah is referring to this photo:

They look like the uniforms in the old "Call for Phillip Morris" ads.

Here's another photo I found of the cadets in the same uniform:

Now, they look like bell boys!

thanks Radio...the review and pictures have been great as usual...

Glad you like YTD but it would be more accurate for you to say "It is so nice to be able to go to dinner whenever I like," since 6:30 pm suits you but is obviously an unpopular dining time (hence the availability of tables). I don't see why I would have to eat an hour or so earlier. The setup for YTD cannot possibly accommodate the guests. I never had such waits on NCL or Princess. I had waits of up to 25 minutes for a table and then extremely slow service. I would have changed to traditional dining (which is what I had for the first evening) but I needed to be out of the dining room by 9:00 pm one evening in order to watch the Tony Awards (thanks to the CBS station from Denver on channel 18).

Hope you have a great day in Halifax.

Hi cruisepup: couldn't you just have kept your tradiional dining and just went to the dining room Tony Awards night and asked if a table were available could you be seated there for just one night? there are always seats available in the dining room...sometimes even whole tables...just wondering

It looks like you're asking why I didn't show up for early seating at traditional dining that evening. That would have been too early. I wanted to have dinner around 7:30 pm. That would have given me 1 1/2 hours for dinner which is more than enough time. After a 20 minute wait I was seated around 7:50 pm and got out just in time. But these 20 minute or more waits was ridiculous' date=' especially when followed by extremely slow service.[/quote']

Because of your statement "I would have changed to traditional dining (which is what I had for the first evening)" I thought that perhaps you had been assigned traditional dining but changed to YTD and I just wondered why you hadn't just kept traditional and just changed your dining choice for the one evening for the Tony's to YTD...you sounded like you didn't like being stuck with YTD the rest of the cruise...just wondered...I'm glad it all worked out for you...

Beautiful pictures....does anyone know if the weather on these cruises to Canada ever warm up (maybe sometime in late July perhaps)?....Joanne

Yesterday when radio was here it was about 62 degrees, cloudy and a bit of drizzle. Today there is nary a cloud in the sky and about 85 degrees. We save the good stuff for ourselves ;) Seriously, the weather here is a crapshoot so don't come for the weather, there's plenty else to come for.

Radio:

Thanks for all the pictures and info you provided. We are going on the 7 day cruise in September on the Glory. Your pictures of St John and Halifax are a great help. We have been on the Glory twice, and that is why we decided to sail her again to New England/Canada.

Thanks Radio,

We are taking a 7 day in October, and though the wife and I have been there before our 4 cruisemates have not.

You gave them a nice preview of the ship and the ports.

Looking forward to you next live report !

BB

P.S. where was your stateroom ? I guessed from a couple of the pictures that you were on deck 6 aft on the port side. We have 6426 and 6430 adjacent and one on the strboard side. How was your stateroom !

Love the Glory! Seeing the pics makes me want to sail her again. So jealous that she's my son's home!:D

I feel the same way... Except for the fact that I'm 14. I hope one day I can work on a cruise ship for 6 months. My friends and I were talking about cruises one day, and we severly want to work on a cruise ship together. You get to meet people from all over the world (including the people you work with :)), you get to see sights from all over the world, and you make money while doing it. Okay, it has its down sides, but its still my dream!

Radio, thanks for the review. I sail on her on Thursday (only a 4 day though) and I am SOOO excited for Saint John. Thanks a lot!

Hello everyone. . . I don’t think I need to tell everyone how bittersweet the last day of a cruise is. . . Every one of you have experienced it, and I won’t put salt on the wound. I had a heck of a time logging in tonight. I am guessing that 100’s of people are try to log in as well. . .

The fog this morning was very strange. . . I had to think for a moment about the message by the Captain at noon. . . “ Everything above the level of the fog will remain the same throughout the day “ Well. . . He was right. The skies were very clear, and the sun was out. . . .throughout the day. It might have the warmest day so far.

There were even passengers in the pool today. . . Who would have thought that this would be a comment worth mentioning ?

Our week was very cold, and very warm (and a little wet too. . .)

This has been a very nice cruise. I loved the ports of call (even if we had rain !) The Carnival Glory is a very nice ship. I like the décor much better than her older sisters. I think it is a good fit for New York, and those who plan to cruise on Glory soon will not be disappointed.

We will be in New York City tomorrow morning about 7:30. The forecast is calling for sunny skies, and warm temps (83F). We should have good views of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and Manhattan.

I have many more pics to post, and I still have to scan all of the Fun Times. When I return home, the internet will be much faster (and a lot cheaper)

Thanks for all of the nice comments, and thanks to all for tuning in.

It was a little weird with the fog so low today. . .

The sun soon came out, and I think we enjoyed the warmest day of the cruise !

All the pools were open, and the kids were having a blast. . .

The sunbathers came out in full force

The sun started to turn in for the night. . .

As the sun goes down, I start to plan another cruise. . .

Dear Radio,

Once again wonderful pictures. Love the sunsetting. Yes, the last day is bittersweet, but you have shared this cruise with so many and have made this past week so pleasant for me. Thank you for taking the time, energy and cost in doing this live review. I will certainly keep an eye out for your future live cruise reviews....Joanne

Thank you so much for your (as always) fun and informative review! It is so nice of you to take time out of your vacation to post these reviews. That last pic of the sunset is a great ending to your cruise report.

Best regards to Mrs. Radio, hope she didn't miss you too much!

Thanks to you, I am even more looking forward to our August sailing on Glory!
