CruiseDaydreamer Posted June 13, 2010 #1 Share Posted June 13, 2010 We are going to use our time in Toulon for a trip to Aix. Does anyone have a good restaurant to recommend for lunch?
moyaroo Posted June 14, 2010 #2 Share Posted June 14, 2010 Some would say Les Deux Garcons but to tell the truth most all of the cafes on the Cours Mirabeau are good.
Fblack Posted June 14, 2010 #3 Share Posted June 14, 2010 There are lots of nice little places to eat in Aux. Many of them are on the road at the fountain in the center of town.
texancruzer Posted June 14, 2010 #4 Share Posted June 14, 2010 We didnt have lunch......but did enjoy some wonderful banana/chocolate crepes and a cup of French coffee. There are numerous cafes/restaurants all along the main boulevard in the old district. Table and chairs under umbrellas and perfect for people watching ! We never try to find a certain restaurant...... can become a hassle and take up valuable time..... when you're hungry check out their menus (they usually post them on a sign out front) and just enjoy the spur of the moment. Rare TLCOhio Posted June 14, 2010 #5 Share Posted June 14, 2010 We are going to use our time in Toulon for a trip to Aix. Does anyone have a good restaurant to recommend for lunch? As noted there are lots and lots of good to great options in Aix. Just walk around and you will see many. Assuming you're not looking for the high-end, pricy places, the great news is that most any place will be very good to excellent. It's hard to have a bad meal in France!! Try to apply the eyeball test! If it looks touristy and the people sitting there (or the staff) are bored and uninterested, then that place probably should be avoided. If it looks like there are locals there and/or they are enjoying it, then it will probably be very good. Or maybe even better! Also nearby is LES BAUX. This is a very neat medieval village with great views that has no major population now, but tourist flock to soak up its history and great views. You should dine right near there at L'Oustau de Beaumaniere for ONE OF THE BEST MEALS YOU CAN HAVE IN FRANCE (lunch is more affordable). This places gets two stars from Michelin on the last time I checked. THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio
