canadian-nurse Posted June 16, 2010 #1 Share Posted June 16, 2010 Hello, We are heading to Bermuda on the Veendam in October and we were wondering if there were any beaches that have good snorkelling right off the beach. We are going to book a snorkelling tour as well, but we are snorkel nuts and would love to spend a whole day out on the beach and snorkelling. We already have all of our own gear, so we don't need to rent any. Thanks for any help!! :)
Host Kewlguy Posted June 16, 2010 #2 Share Posted June 16, 2010 Try Tobacco Bay which is near St. George's and/or Church Bay which is one of the South Shore beaches.
rickb609 Posted June 17, 2010 #3 Share Posted June 17, 2010 I just snorkeled Church Bay last week, it was very good. Not much beach there, but worth visiting.
canadian-nurse Posted June 18, 2010 Author #4 Share Posted June 18, 2010 Thanks so much! We can't wait to check them out! Maybe we'll get to do both! Sometimes the not-so-nice beaches have the best snorkelling. Thanks again for the tips! :)

Thanks again for the tips! :) IMO, it's not that Church Bay is not so nice.....it's just small.;) Anytime we were there, it was very uncrowded. Check the video as well.:)

For sunbathing and swimming there are other beaches I would recommend.

Our experience there was wonderful. Our ferry guy told us too about "Turtle bay" where there is also snorkeling and turtles to swim with you. That would be a bit of a bus ride from St. George or Hamilton. We also did Church bay - just remember to get in there is a sandy path on the left (looking out to sea) near the rocks. Good snorkeling there and large fish. Friends on board told us the best snorkeling was at Warwick Long Bay but we didn't make it there. We will next time. It can be very rough and has a strong riptide.
