Chilkoot lake wildlife kayak tour

Has anyone gone on the Chilkoot Lake Wildlife Kayak Tour in Skagway? Is is worth doing? Do you get to see any wildlife on the shore while kayaking? :confused: Thanks for any information you can share.

I posted the same questions several weeks ago and didn't really get anyone to chime in. We signed up for it anyway and are doing it next week. Sounds great so I am looking forward to it. I'll get it posted in a couple of weeks.

One point, this is NOT in Skagway, it is in Haines. And this is a very poor choice, IF wildlife is your priority. Very low sighting stats. The "peak" is well after the cruise season, since they have a late salmon run.

 

This kayak trip is very tame, you paddle around a lake.

I've done this excursion, and we saw no wildlife that I recall (well, maybe an eagle or two, but in SE that's like seeing cockroaches in a NY apartment). It was lots of fun though, and I enjoyed being on the water.

Anchors I am very interested to hear your trip review. My husband and I are going next year and really want to do kayaking. We have looked into Orca's Cove in Ketchikan but really want to do either misty fjords or the "deadliest catch" tour...so we were going to try and get our kayaking experience in Haines. I'm hoping it's good so I would love to hear what you thought!!
