My family and I are sailing on the DREAM in a few weeks! I always like to print out all the secrets and must-do's before I cruise so I have an upper-hand on having a stress-free vacation. These are some of the things I have learned here. Please add to this list! Thank you!!:p

1) Eat at odd hours so one avoids the lines~

2) The MDR is open on sail days for lunch~Open for breakfast every day.

3) Aft buffet line is less crowded than main area~

4) Eat at Pasta Bar early in the week before every one else finds out about it~

5) Aft pool area is less crowded than Lido pool area~

6) Get to the shows 30-45 minutes early~

7) Get up early to get pool area seats~

Gosh...what else??

OH! Carry on liquor, don't stow away in luggage. Bring NEW power strip & excellent condition hair dryer to avoid confiscation...

OK, your turn and thanks guys! CC is the BEST!!!!!!!!!:D

i'd say go to the comedy club a little early to get a seat. after the first few nights when everyone discovers what fun it is it becomes hard to get in. i really enjoyed it.

the lanai on deck five is a great place to hang out before dinner or a show or people watch.

relax and enjoy!

smiles, bee

There are some reviews out there with excellent Dream tips. I've got one linked up to my signature below. ALso check out PaulMedik, k2excursion, smileyone and jolyroger, to name a few. Excellent Dream hints and tips!

My tip #1 - try the pasta bar early, then go there at off-hours. Tip number 2 - expect the elevators to be crowded and used by healthy persons only going up or down one floor. I.E. - take the stairs if you must. Tip #3 - power strip? Go to Best Buy and purchase a Belkin power plug for $20. It's a plug for 4 items, plus it has 2 USB ports as well. The thing is about 3 inches by 4 inches and takes up absolutely no room whatsoever.

Enjoy your trip!

Enjoy your trip!

Don't carry on liquor or it will get confiscated and held until the end of the cruise. They allow 1 bottle of wine per adult to be carried on, but no liquor. Some are still having success smuggling liquor in checked luggage, but even that is becoming hard to do. It seems like the best chance of getting it through these days is in Rum Runners.

Other tips.....

If the inside buffet lines are long at breakfast, try the station by the aft pool (where the Tandoori station is set up). On our cruise, we noticed late in the week that they were also serving breakfast there. Nice way to beat the crowd and enjoy your breakfast out by the pool!

There are a lot of great food options on the Dream at lunch time (Mongolian grill, Tandoori, Burrito Bar, Pasta Bar) Try them all at least once, if you can! Just be aware that the hours are limited, I think most of them close by 3:00.

On Embarkation day, the Crimson dining room was open for lunch! We have never seen this before, but it was a nice alternative to the Lido buffet hustle & bustle. It's always so hard to find a table in the buffet area on embarkation day!

Gee, from reading this, it seems like all I did was eat on my cruise. I promise I did other things, too!

When you go to the pasta bar, get an extra one or two entrees. Bring them back to your room and put them in your fridge. In the evening, the cabin steward will have them warmed for you--makes a great late night meal.

There is popcorn at whatever the fun desk is on Lido!! My husband discovered it and brought me popcorn to the aft pool. He said he must have been stopped 20 times on the way back with people asking him where he got it! Buy more than one box ($1.50) and bring back to your room for a good late night snack or casino snack. :)

In the MDR, you can order cookies off the children's menu. My husband always brought them back to the room to enjoy with ice cream later on in the evening.

If someone in your party is not feeling well, let the MDR waiter know. I was ill most of the cruise, and the waiter brought me soup and crackers every night. One night they asked what sounded good--I said dry pasta. They had it prepared for the next night---I was too ill to make it to the MDR, and the ass't Maitre 'D brought it to my cabin (with a smile and a get well soon!).

Don't be too timid to ASK! I had eggs to order one morning, and some guy asked where I got them. When I told him, he was kind of pissy b/c he didn't know he could ask for that.

Where do you pay for the ICEE?

For this icee machine you pay for it at the bar that is right beside it. However, there is another machine up on the waterworks level where the kid slide is. I am not sure where you pay for that. My son loved the icee!

See Dancing In The Streets. My only regret was that I didn't see the entire show, only about 45 minutes.

Yes, the Icees are true. They come in 2 sizes, the smaller one is the same price as a soda... go figure. There are two machines one next to a bar on Lido by the main pool and a second up by the kids water works area. You pay for that one like a bar waiter.. they take your folio number from your card and give you a paper receipt.

The Crimson dinning room open for lunch on embarkation day. That is new and it was wonderful. You don't have to fight the buffet lines.

If you are a star gazer, wait until it is dark and go out on the Lanai all the forward to the bow under the bridge. It is very dark up there and you can see so many stars if its clear and no moon... we had to wait for our eyes to adjust but it is really great.

And I am not sure I would call it a Dream tip, but if you want a great hotel book the Radisson at the Port. They offer shuttle to the port in the morning. We book a 10:30 shuttle, we were on board and having lunch in the Crimson dinning room by 11:15!!

regarding the liquor smuggling -- there are a ton of threads on this subject and using rum runners to get yer booty on safely.

But sitting here daydreaming about it: if you can bring wine onboard no problem -- why not just use a wine bottle to put your liquor in? Do they uncork/unscrew your bottle and sniff???

Do go to the Lanai deck for the BBQ on sea days...Just go around 12:15 or 12:30 to avoid the lines and be able to get a table there. Avoid the sliders, but get the hotdogs and the quesadillas and soft tacos. Great salsas. Do the tandoori grill, but for breakfast, as previously mentioned and for lunch. No crowds and great Indian food.

Don't miss the Comedy Club!!! Or the sushi offerings and the lunch items there on sea days. If you do the SPA, go to the relaxation lounge there when you're finished with your steam or Thalsso pool. Great teas, waters with fruit or cucumbers. Great views out the window.

Yes they do have banana split in the main dining room. It's on the kids menu but you can ask for it during desert and they will bring it to you. I ordered one everyday during my five day cruise
