TequilaToo Posted February 23, 2014 #377 Share Posted February 23, 2014 Continuation of review of Cabin 10688 on Oasis of the Seas... View of Cozumel, prior to the arrival of the Serenade View of Cozumel, once the Serenade arrived Straight out view of the Serenade while docked in Cozumel. The only drawback here was that the internet didn't work correctly in the cabin all day due to interference from the Serenade's wi-fi network. From the time it arrived, until the time it pulled out, I was unable to connect, and unable to find out WHY I could not connect until just before dinner, becaue the Wi-Fi assistance line was busy constantly. Only late in the day was I able to get through and discover the reason for the problem. I was told I could either wait until the Serenade pulled out, or go up to the card room to get access. View of the sunrise on Day 6 View of the ugly side of the port in Fort Lauderdale on disembarkation morning - somewhat of a "back to reality" jolt! Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal size Was wind a problem? - Not unless both the balcony and hallway door were open. If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - None Any specific problems with this cabin? - None, except its location aft meant the elevator bank was always extremely busy at dinnertime with passengers descending to the MDR. A cabin nearer the forward elevators might have meant shorter waiting times at the elevators, but would have meant a longer walk to dinner. We ended up taking the stairs down to Deck 4 and the MDR a number of nights. If you do this, remember to change to the other side of the staircase halfway down to "unwind", otherwise you may arrive at dinner dizzy! :D Any other comments? - Would choose a Starboard balcony again in a heartbeat for the Western Caribbean run. We could heard the zip line and other activities when the door was open, and only faintly when door and curtains closed Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No Balcony View - Boardwalk and ocean views. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal Was wind a problem? - No If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - No Any specific problems with this cabin? - No Any other comments? - We have sailed on the Allure twice and have booked a third voyage with a Boardwalk balcony stateroom. Surprisingly, the Boardwalk room was our preferred over oceanview balcony due to the wind and we just don't care about seeing endless ocean. This is mostly due to the fact that we live in South Florida so oceanviews are the norm for us. We liked having the combo of people watching and seeing some water. Our friends have booked a Central Park balcony room, but I feel that looking at trees and balconies for a week will be too dull for us. Recommend BW balcony rooms for people with kids or those that like a little more action and don't mind a little bit of noise. This room did have the bed by the balcony which may have added to the noise factor a little bit. Our next cruise has the bed by the closet, so we are hoping this helps and will extend the balcony into our room a bit. Additionally, being able to catch the Aqua Theater show from your balcony is a bonus. Recommend using the balconies at the end of deck 11 for great view when enterting or leaving port. They are often empty. Edited March 2, 2014 by Caneschic Added a few more details.

(With comments on problems) – very quiet Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - no Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Balcony view was not that great. There is an overhang that runs probably 20 feet out for most of this side of the ship that covers the lifeboats. Standing out on our balcony, we couldn't look down at the ocean. People that we met that were staying on the 8th deck also commented on this. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - normal to small. So chairs and a small table fit ok. No lounge chair room (unless you put one sideways. Was wind a problem? - no problem If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - Any specific problems with this cabin? - air conditioner wasn't the greatest. Maintenance came up and fixed it, but by the end of our week, it was again blowing out warm air. Another thing was the black water that came out of the faucet on occasion. Rusty water at other times. Any other comments? - Much much much smaller than Navigator or Adventure class. A bit uncomfortable for 2 people to share as we really do spend time in the room/on balcony. (With comments on problems) – Not quiet. Deck 10 is just under the pool deck. Very noisy. Music, loud card playing (yes... a group of spring breakers just above us), dancing at night. Vacuuming and moving of deck chairs at 5 a.m. Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – No obstruction but there is an overhang from the pool deck so not much sun or rain... which is a good thing. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Good size balcony. Plenty of room for the two chairs and a table. Was wind a problem? - No. We could leave our door open at night. If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - Any specific problems with this cabin? - Sewer smell, but that was the whole deck. Majesty, in our opinion, is a tired ship. Our furniture was worn. The bed was rock hard (eventually we had a double mattress pad and five duvet interiors over the mattress). The sliding glass door threshold was so worn and the metal deformed, that sliding the door was difficult. The balcony furniture, which should be white, was gray, worn, and dirty. Both curtains were not attached at the end and just hung off the tracks. The fridge door had a large crack down the middle. Any other comments? - We know this was a short, cheap cruise on Royal Caribbean's smallest ship and we were grateful to be in the heat and sun (even though we missed Coco Cay), but if this had been our first cruise, we would not sail on a Royal Caribbean ship again based on the appearance of the Majesty. Majesty, in our opinion, is a tired ship.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - NO Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Clear view of the ocean in back and from the side. The balcony is a wraparound that has two parts. It did get a lot of sun but there was always a part that had shade. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - OVERSIZED! VERY BIG! Had two lounge chairs, two chairs and a chair height table. Was wind a problem? - YES, several days we were not able to use the "side" balcony. Had to move the chairs next tow the connecting wall because of the strong breezes. If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - NO Any specific problems with this cabin? - There was no specific problem BUT we did feel the engine more then in other rooms we have had. The position of the bed also makes the wave action from side to side since the bed faces the side of the ship . . . Not a problem for us. Any other comments? - YES, IF YOU SEE IT IS AVAILABLE . . . You walk in to the vanity to the front, the bed to the left and the closet and bathroom to the right. The shower had a curtain but had more area than the OV staterooms.
