Belize

Once again this was our favorite port. We booked Coral Breeze Stingray alley and Caye Caulker snorkeling tour. It is operated by hammerhead water sports. Heni and her team were great and we were well looked after in the water. Her team member Mark told us a lot about Belize and we enjoyed chatting with him on the ride back to the port. We enjoyed our snorkeling very much and saw grouper, stingrays and a barracuda and various other small fish. The only issue is the strong current here, it is a workout.

Caye Caulker is such a laid back place, we would love to return there some day. We didn’t include lunch in our tour but ate at the place that provides the included lunch. It is called the Paradise restaurant (the first place after leaving the dock) Lobster season opened the day before we arrived and for $12.00 per person we had lobster kabobs and wow, they were huge and full of fresh lobster meat! I don’t think lobster is included in the prepaid lunch so I would opt to buy my own lunch when I got there. Every restaurant we passed had lobster served a 100 ways, I think I could live on Caye Caulker during lobster season!

the tiny showers are the only thing I am not crazy about but that is all cruise ship showers.

Use the spa showers!! They're great. Plenty of room. And from 11207/11209/11205 you're just around the corner from the stairs/elevator up to the spa facilities (that stair circle in Wednesday's pictures). Also the showers across fromt he gym are great if the spa isn't open or you don't want to get the key card to enter the spa.

Costa Maya

We booked the Chaccoben tour through Native Choice. I had heard that David was the guide for the ruins but we never met him? Our guide was Francisco and he was very informative about the ruins. The history there is fascinating and I highly recommend seeing them. A word of advice, take your own insect repellant and make sure it is strong. We forgot and they wanted $10.00 for a tiny can at the ruins and the guide did not offer any of his. We borrowed some skin so soft from a couple on the tour and the mosquitoes there laughed at that, we had multiple mosquito bites. We still find the people at Costa Maya a little too pushy, and were given the impression that all they cared about was getting our money. I know that is all that most people care about but at least act like you really want to share your culture and your beautiful home with us. We still enjoyed our day here, the Mayan history is fascinating and according to the guide 2012 is a load of BS, so don't go blowing all of your money and doing anything crazy.

Dreamlooker...we were in 11209 in May ( and will be again next June). It is exactly the same size as Wednesday's 11245. Plenty of room for two. The couch can double out as a bed if there are 3 people. But we've been in balcony cabins of similar sq ft size/layout on other Carnival ships with 3 people and still had plenty of room. The suite in 11205 is very nice and the longer balcony is enticing. Of course it's more $$$. Noise isn't a real issue down at that end of the passageway as only traffic is 3 other cabins near you and nothing to attract other pax down that way. Wednesday's cabin was right by the stairs and elevators, so closer to general traffic.

i see u went in january how cold was it ?

Overall the ship was beautiful and clean and the staff went out of their way to make you happy. As for the infamous smell, we got faint whiffs of it every now and then but it was nothing to interfere with our enjoyment of the ship. I would not be too worried about it.
