tarheelmjfan Posted February 6, 2005 #1 Share Posted February 6, 2005 We are interested in the natives, their culture, & history. Which tour do you recommend? Historic Russian American Tour or Native Cultural & Historic Tour Any other suggestions for Sitka? We're in port for 8 hrs., & we really don't enjoy shopping. We would rather spend our time touring. TIA :)
Budget Queen Posted February 6, 2005 #2 Share Posted February 6, 2005 Some questions- some Sitka highlights, Sitka Heritage Park, Bishops House, Sheldon museum, raptor center. Are these listed on your tours??? Also the Archangles dances are worthwhile and a walk through St. Michaels Church. Together the shuttle bus drops off for $7 all day with admissions maybe $25 for all???
tarheelmjfan Posted February 7, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted February 7, 2005 We decided to book the Historic Russian American Tour & the Sea Life Discovery Semi-Submersible. The HRAT seems to include more of the things you said we should see. The tour goes by the Russian Cemetery, Blockhouse, Castle Hill, the Sitka National Historical Park, St. Michael's & you see the New Archangel Dancers. I'll take a list of the other things you've mentioned. Will we be able to see those on our own? Thanks again :)

They have a tradition of wearing pins from their visitors on their blue jackets. Since I go end of August, they are truely a "united nations". tarheelmjfan Posted February 7, 2005 Author #5 Share Posted February 7, 2005 Thanks again :) I'll try to remember the pin. My memory's horrible! I'll note it on the paper of the places you recommend we visit. Now, I just have to remember the paper.
