Venice Water Taxi on Disembarkation

Would like to prebook to get to hotel with private water taxi- pretty big group w/ luggage but how could you know what time exactly to book for? Anyone done recently how bad is the line and/or did you prebook?

They were lined up at the port when we disembarked--no need to prebook that I can see.

Is a ship's transfer available? Just did this - on Princess. For $39 per person, niece and I left ship and put on a water shuttle to St. Mark's Square. Our hotel was on a list of ones that qualified for luggage delivery. As part of that $39 p/p our luggage was delivered to our hotel via another boat later that afternoon. May be cheaper to do it yourself but I thought it was great not ever having to drag luggage anywhere at end of trip - except for that uphill haul dragging luggage up to the actuall AP!

 

The private water taxi to AP - that seems to be a pretty standard $100 euro.
