Alona Posted July 1, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 1, 2010 I apologise if this question has been asked before. If you take rubles into Russia and don't use them all can you take them out with you? Someone did tell me that you are not allowed to take rubles out of the country. Thanks

chitowngirl312 Posted July 4, 2010 #3 Share Posted July 4, 2010 something given to us on the ship said that all rubles need to be exchanged prior to leaving the country. no one asked us as we were going thru the terminal. so if this is true then it was not enforced! dexddd Posted July 4, 2010 #4 Share Posted July 4, 2010 As an FYI in the new cruise terminal in St. P., there is an ATM that lets you take out up to 6,000 rubles and next to it was an automatic money exchange machine. We weren't asked any questions about money thru customs.
camNaud Posted July 14, 2010 #5 Share Posted July 14, 2010 We had no problems taking Roubles back out of Russia - please bear in mind many vendors in the St petersburg street markets will happily take other currencies including Euros and US Dollars - just remember to haggle. :)
