lmg1230 Posted July 1, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 1, 2010 Hi Alona, We used the HOHO bus in Copenhagen, Helsinki and Oslo last summer. In Stockholm we used the HOHO ferry. We found them to be a convenient way to get around the cities with our two daughters. I can't remember if we used a credit card or paid cash. Giantfan13 Posted July 2, 2010 #3 Share Posted July 2, 2010 Hi can anybody recommend city hop on hop off tour buses for Copenhagen, Stockholm, Helsinki and Oslo and if you can pay on the bus with a credit card. Thank you The only place we used a HoHo bus was in Stockholm, and that was jsut because we docked on a Sunday and the regular bus didn't run on Sunday. They sent a sort of fleet of these HoHo buses to the dock for anyone who wanted transportation into the city. It was sort of like they had you by the you know what. Either walk, or buy a ticket and ride the HoHo. Now this wasn't cheap either, about $40 PP and you have to buy a ticket at the counter at the dock. They did take credit cards. As for the other cities, we did not take any HoHo buses. they are all very walkable and easy to get around. In Helsinki, we did have to take a taxi to get to Market Square to catch the tram. This tram is like a HoHo bus in that if you buy this Helsinki pass you can ride all day, on and off at your convenience. It does make a loop around Helsinki and stops at all the major attractions. waggie Posted July 2, 2010 #5 Share Posted July 2, 2010 You can take a local bus from just outside the dock area in Helsinki which will take you to the square. Have a look around the market and then take the bus. We found the tourist. cabin near the square very helpful

dexddd Posted July 2, 2010 #7 Share Posted July 2, 2010 There were two companies in Copenhagen last week. One close to the dock and one just a bit farther away but you could see their bus. The both had reps right next to each other. We took the City Sightseeing which was $50.00 for 2 adults and 2 kids. Not sure about credit cards. MagnoliaBlossom Posted July 3, 2010 #9 Share Posted July 3, 2010 Dexdd - a bit of a deviation from the main question, but in Copenhagen we plan to do the canal tour. We did the HOHO bus last time we were there and may do it again, or may just wander on foot. Question - since we dock at Freeport this time (Sun) were there other shuttles into city center? Or is the HoHo bus themost cost effective means overall? Thanks MB
MagnoliaBlossom Posted July 3, 2010 #10 Share Posted July 3, 2010 In a review recetly one cruiser reported that in Copenhagen (Freeport pier) that two companies have busses - HoHO and City Sightseeing. He reports that the CitySightseeing runs back to the pier much more often than the other company. I believe the review is posted on the NCL Sun membver review. The other thing about buses, the City Sightseeing are like the red London double decker buses. The other company had double decker coach type buses if that makes any difference for you. The other thing which wasn't clear even though I asked the City Sightseeing bus rep selling ticket, to go back to the NCL Sun pier, the red HOHO bus drops you off at the Mermaid spot, then you take a bus from the Mermaid stop back on a white coach type bus (it has a window sign). This bus runs every 45 minutes as I recall. We walked from the palace to the mermaid spot along the water. A bit of a hike but nice. There is a free public toilet across from the palace but I recall someone saying on another post beware of pickpocket there. If you are at the mermaid spot and have time waiting for bus back to pier, you can walk about 5 minutes to the close pier with some souvenir shops and other stores.
