Prebooking Southern Caribbean Excursions?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! I'm new here, and did a search for my question- but didn't find it. We're sailing on the Serenade of the Seas next weekend, and wanted to know if it's absolutely necessary to pre-book any excursions? We've booked a Bumpiing Tour on Dominica, and plan to go to Trunk Bay from St Thomas, but we're still up in the air about what to do in Aruba or Curacao. Are these the types of ports where we can get off the ship and decide what we want to do that morning? Thanks!

If it's just a beach day or shopping, then sure...just do that! No excursion needed. if there's something you REALLY want to do, it's always best to make arrangements in advance, but if you just want to "play it by ear", there will opportunities to do things once you arrive.

We're probably not interested in a beach day (we live by the beach), so we're looking more at an excursion- just not sure which one (we're fly by the seat of our pants type of people!). Will there be both RCL sponsored and private excursion options?

You can decide the night before or very early in the morning and see if there is room on any RCI shore excursion. Or you can just get off and walk around either place and decide as you go. On Aruba the Atlantis sub is right by the ship but it could be full. If not, you could buy your tickets and join the group. We enjoyed that on our first trip there. In Curacao, you could just walk around, Willemstad is an absolutely lovely place to discover on your own. The last time we found a taxi driver to take us to the Hato Caves which we really enjoyed. We'd asked the driver if there would be a problem getting a taxi back but he said he would wait for us and bring us back. Turned out there were two dozen or more drivers doing the same thing.
