Going back to St. Martin and I don’t know how to approach the day. We were not very impressed by the island on our tour so there is no place that I want to go back to. We thought Orient was way overpriced and the bathrooms were the worst ever…and they charged to use them. The planes at Maho were cool but been there done that. Is there a nice all inclusive that we could get a day pass to that would include drinks and food if so maybe we will just kick back there for the day. We will be docked from 7am until 5 pm and we really don’t need a great beach day because we will go to St. John the day before which is our all time favorite. Any help that you give is greatly appreciated

sonesta great bay resort offers an all inclusive day pass for $29. includes lunch, 2 drinks, use of pools, swim up bar, beach chairs, kayaks, floats, snorkel gear. i found them on stmarteencruiseexcursions.com:)

Last time in St Martin - we did the shopping thing.

For island merchandise you cannot beat the prices .

We've picked up some great stuff

in that impromptu flea-market type shopping area in the central square area

over in Marigot, on the French side of the island.

The area described surrounds this area...

..with the pretty little bandstand!

If you need to spend some of that excess cash

there's the swanky West Indies Mall not far away, and on the waterfront

MarigotMall-324.jpg

where the goods to be had are very European and priced in Euros

so your credit card will come in handy for Hermes, Chanel, LaCrosse, Gucci

and other classy,upmarket trendy-brand-name purchases!

Just so's you know...West Indies Mall is not bargain-basement shopping, okay?

but give it a try. Not everything in there is pricey.

My wife picked up a few cute decoration things for the house.

Simpson Bay Lagoon sounds intereting - do you have anymore informaion on that ?

Last time in St Martin - we did the shopping thing. For isalnd merchandise you cannot beat the prices .

Island Marketing has a 3.5 hour sailing excursion on the Lagoon using small sailboats. If you sail you can actually rent a boat and sail yourself.

We have been to St Martin a few times - have never done a tour. Our favorite way to spend the day is as follows:

Taxi from Cruise port to Marigot. Wander the shops and market. (Wednesday and Saturday AM are best).

Around lunch time take a taxi to Grand Case. Lunch at one of the Lolo's on the beach. Great food / beer at very reasonable prices. Have the taxi pick you up again in a couple of hours and take the trip around the island to Orient Beach.

We like Pedros but a number of other bars near it are just as good. (Avoid the 5 bars starting with Kontiki)

When you are done with the beach take a taxi back to Phillipsburg for shopping or just back to the ship.

The day will be done. You will have seen the whole island had great food great shopping and great beach time and at a very reasonable cost.

Enjoy St Martin. It is one of our favorite islands.

We have been to St Martin a few times, going again in Jan. We are going to do ATV's with Island Marketing. I thought that sounded like a fun time. Last time we did a tour with Bernard and had a great time. Enjoy your cruise.

This looks awesome and I'm checking it out now! Kind of late, I know, but who knows. I'm fine w/ the taxi to the beach and shopping in Philipsburg too. Did Bernard's tour once and shopping once.
