Soextcited Posted July 5, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 5, 2010 Someone stated they pulled back in due to engine problem. Can anyone verify this?
dmwnc1959 Posted July 5, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 5, 2010 EPIC sailed out of NY harbor Friday, out past the V. Narrows Bridge, and out towards Long Island. I followed her on AIS on she spent the whole time at approx 8 kts, sailed all the way to the end of Long Island and slowly sailed back, arriving approx 6:30am Sunday morning. The low speed was NOT because of any engine problems but due to the length of time she stayed at sea and not wanting to travel past Long Island. EPIC sailed out on time and returned on time. PS, that low speed and track she took is very typical of ships doing inaugural Travel Agent/Media cruises out of NY.
dmwnc1959 Posted July 5, 2010 #3 Share Posted July 5, 2010 Right now EPIC is off of Asbury Park NJ making 20.6 knots. Lets not start another engine problem rumor....;) She never had engine problems to being with after she was accepted by NCL. She has a shaft problem that was fixed in Southampton prior to her TransAtlantic which went flawless as far as the ships performance.

dmwnc1959 Posted July 5, 2010 #5 Share Posted July 5, 2010 No problem today either. She was scheduled, and departed (pulled away from the pier) at Noon. Picked up her starboard lifeboats, and headed downriver at 12:20pm reaching the Statue of Liberty at 1pm. She headed out to sea and is making good speed southbound for Miami.
