What's the lastest you can stay in your cabin on departure day

Recommended Posts

"Turnaround day" is the most hectic and frustrating for the crew. They need to get an early start and obviously, they want passengers to vacate as soon as possible and go to one of the public areas to await their departure time. Having said that, we have stayed in the cabin until 8 am. Others are out by 6 am and the stewards start on those rooms. But to be fair, you really should vacate by 8.

On Oasis, their goal is to have everyone disembarked by 9:30 am - this is their ultimate goal but I'm sure it varies week to week.

1 pm is not really that late a flight; once you get to the airport and get settled in, I think you'll be amazed at how quickly the time will fly. Remember, there will be a lot of cruise passengers going to the airport with you; I wouldn't leave it too late (IMHO).

We just returned from an RCI cruise on Independence out of Southampton and they had a "late departure program" that allowed you to stay on the ship until just before the next sailing. This is mainly for guests who had long-haul/red-eye flights out of London that didn't depart until late in the evening.

With a 1pm departure I would encourage you to leave the ship as soon as you are able. Between collecting your luggage, immigration, customs, and transferring to the airport you will find that it is actually far less time than you expect!

Getting off Oasis a couple of weeks ago, we were on the Promenade around 9:15. Talking to some of the staff, we could hear their radios. The command was very nice, but very firm, coming through as "we still have some guests wandering the ship. If you see any guests, please encourage them to exit the ship and escort them to the exits." (or something like that)

Our departure was supposed to be between 8am and 9am, but there was a delay at customs that stopped the line from moving for a few minutes, which is why we were still there at 9:15.

We got off Oasis around 9 or 9:15. Our flight was at 2, and Delta would not let us check in before 12. We also could not go through security before 12. The terminal was full. I heard from others that they didn't have that wait--they could check in right away. You might want to check with your airline.
