If you give an idea of what you would like to do I am sure someone can help, just having a blank slate is tough.

Rare CruisinCrow Posted July 7, 2010 #6 Share Posted July 7, 2010 We've been to Nassau several times and enjoyed every visit. Here are some of the things we've tried: Snorkeling Dolphin Encounter at Blue Lagoon Walking tour of historical areas Gambling at Crystal Palace Lunch at the Fish Fry Atlantis aquarium All-inclusive day pass Segway tour Some people say they don't like Nassau because of the pushing vendors. Just stay away from the Straw Market and you'll be OK. Affordable Caribbean recently had a show on Nassau. Here's a link. Click on the Bahamas tab and you can watch videos about many of the things mentioned here on Cruise Critic. http://www.caribbeantravelmag.com/ctl-affordable-caribbean

bguppies Posted July 7, 2010 #8 Share Posted July 7, 2010 I have done the pirate museum and visited the market...there is a group of about 8 of this time and I am concerned about the limited time we have in port. I am open to any suggestions that can be done in the time we have. To us, the two worst spots in Nassau are the shopping and market area and Atlantis. (also did the Pirate Museum at the end of our first walking tour and it was lacking. Decent at best) We have thus far been 5 times and loved each trip to Nassau. (going back in about 70 days or so and can't wait.) We have done the walking tour (twice) Daypass at the British Colonial Hilton (twice) Ardastra Gardens and Zoo Blue Lagoon Dolphins excursion, Sea Lion excursion and beach day. Cigar Factory and Graycliff Hotel tour Probably going to try a daypass at Cable Beach this trip coming up. The only thing we did that we did not 100% enjoy was our trip to Atlantis and the Aquarium there.(had an OK time there) The fake Vegas/Disney vibe there and ridiculous prices there just were not our thing. If you get away from the crowds and craziness in the shopping streets and straw market, you will have a much better time. Bill
Mr Fun Posted July 8, 2010 #9 Share Posted July 8, 2010 Last time in Nassau, we found a great beach that was next to Atlantis. It was beautiful, but no bathroom. So the DW nixed it for our upcoming visit to Nassau. Anyone have a good suggestion?
baileyimpact Posted July 8, 2010 Author #10 Share Posted July 8, 2010 the dolphin encounters sounds fun. Which tour company is the best one to do it with?
AerynSun_JohnCrighton Posted July 8, 2010 #11 Share Posted July 8, 2010 Ardastra Gardens and Zoo We did this last time... it only took a couple of hours, was like 5 to 8 pp taxi...and like 15 to get in (not sure on pricing, I'm sure someone has link) It was nice. Flamingos interesting, and there's some parakeets that you can go into an enclosure and feed a cup of fruit too and they land on you. That was the highlight to me. We took pics. They ask you to donate a dollar to do it, but it was worth it and they were cute little birds. I will try to add a pic or two from it.

I can vouch for Blue Lagoon and then you have the run of the entire place for the rest of the day, unlike at Atlantis. Bill

scubagirrl Posted July 10, 2010 #15 Share Posted July 10, 2010 Is there a casino that you do not need a day pass? Someplace you can just walk in and play blackjack? Both Atlantis and the Wyndham have a casino that is open to the public. The Crystal Palace at the Wyndham will be closed from late August thru the first week of October. Loucat Posted July 11, 2010 #16 Share Posted July 11, 2010 We did a private island tour for 4 and loved it. We found a driver who had not gotten any fare, so he agreed to take us all over the island. This is not frequent he said due to the high price of gas. He was so informative, so we gave him a healthy tip. He made out better than 4 runs to Atlantis:) We have been to Nassau more than 5 times, and never left the port or Paradise Island. It is a beautiful place, but no one gets to see the real island. Wish more drivers would agree to do this.
Blessedcruiser Posted July 14, 2010 #17 Share Posted July 14, 2010 I have been to Nassau twice...and my group is now interested in Atlantis.. we will be on the Oasis and the stay is not that long. I think 8-2. Does RCCL offer a day tour to atlantis that covers the water slides? Is it worth the money for such limited time? What else does Atlantis offer for cruisers? THANKS so much for your help! We are traveling Next March. Joyce

THANKS so much for your help! We are traveling Next March. Joyce Oasis has an Atlantis Day pass, but the slides don't open until 10am and you'd have to leave Atlatnis by 1 to get back to the ship. Not worth the money.. for sure. Other atlantis passes? Don't know what your ship is offering, but you can use the FREE beach next door to Atlantis and not pay the outrageous beach day pass. Be aware you are coming during Spring break and it will be mobbed. Book whatever you are doing without delay.
