Rare Keith1010 Posted July 11, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 11, 2010 I have been meaning to post this from our visit to Barbados earlier this year. For those of you who enjoy taking long walks in port we did just that on our visit to Barbados. We had a good map and we walked from the cruise ship terminal over to the downtown area which was a couple of mile walk. We mainly walked on an area by the beach and off the water and then once we arrived to the town we utilized the map to get to the sites we wanted to visit including a church, town hall, the oldest continuous synagogue in North America and several other sites. It was easy to get around and the sidewalks for the pedestrians were quite nice. Certainly there is much more to do that one can do on their own with transportation of through a ship or a private tour but just wanted to note for us this made for a very nice day in port. rjscott Posted July 11, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 11, 2010 Yes, for those who don't mind the walk, it isn't a bad walk to Bridgetown, and you can stop and shop at Pelican Village either on the way to or from town. Pelican Village has some nice local quality craft items for sale and it's a nice area to browse thru.
erkman2006 Posted July 14, 2010 #3 Share Posted July 14, 2010 You can also easily walk to Carlisle Bay from downtown (only about a 5-10 min walk) across the waterway. It's a great beach where you can rent chairs/umbrellas, buys drinks, etc.
