gam888 Posted July 29, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 29, 2010 Will be in La Spezia from 7:30 - 7:30. Want to take a train to Pisa, visit the leaning tower. Then instead of taking a train to Vernazza in Cinque Terre, thought if we can hire a taxi or pre-book a transfer company to take the 5 of us to Vernazza. Hope to get there by early afternoon, visit it and still have time to take the local train to Riomaggoire the next town. Has anyone ever attempted to visit Pisa and 1 or 2 towns in Cinque Terre on the same day? I contacted some tour companies and for a full day tour that covers these two places, it's ridiculously expensive. I checked the train schedule, if we were to take the train from Pisa to Vernazza, it's a very tight schedule. Any suggestions are welcome!
Rare Hlitner Posted July 29, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 29, 2010 You already discovered the problem with your plan. It would be very expensive. You are talking about hundreds of Euros for a taxi (or car/driver). Personally, we would recommend just spending the day at Cinque Terre and saving Pisa for another trip. To be honest, having driven all over Italy (more then 10,000 miles of driving) Pisa is very low on our list of places worth a visit. It does have the Tower and surrounding Field of Dreams (all nice) but that is about the only thing worthy about Pisa. Hank
maryann ns Posted July 29, 2010 #3 Share Posted July 29, 2010 I totally agree. For Cinque Terra you can get an all day ferry pass. We did this, but took the train between two towns and walked to another. It was a magical day.
