TomCruises Posted August 2, 2010 #2 Share Posted August 2, 2010 Do you buy the cruise line's insurance - or buy your own? You need to check it out for yourself!;)insuremytrip.com or squaremouth.com. I NEVER buy insurance from a cruiseline!

Cruisedreamer1 Posted August 3, 2010 #4 Share Posted August 3, 2010 If you have a good travel agent, she or he can make an comparsion for you. Sometimes depending on your age it is better to purchase the cruiseline's coverage(usually over 70). Also, it depends on what coverage you need. Trip cancellation is important to us so we look for the type that covers the most reasons. A lot of medical coverage on these policies is secondary so you should check what your medical policy covers outside of the US for emergencies and what they will want in order to pay you back. This is one of the costs of a trip that one really only appreciates if one uses it. Look at the volcanic eruption issues this summer.
FlightMedic555 Posted August 5, 2010 #5 Share Posted August 5, 2010 IMHO the trip cancellation portion is not a bad thing to have but the evacuation insurance is what you need. I have good health insurance here at home. If I needed an air ambulance to get home the cost would be in the $150,000 range.
