Welcome Aboard packets.

It seems like everyone is receiving a Welcome Aboard packet in the mail. Am I suppose to be receiving this as well? This is my first cruise on NCL and I'm not sure how everything works yet. I completed my edocs and already printed them, but I was not aware of getting anything by mail. I booked this cruise through a travel agent if that makes any difference.

Your Ta owns your reservations and should get you your welcome aboard packet from them. If for any reason you dont receive the welcome aboard packet the only thing of any real value is the luggage tags. You can also print those off ncl.com I believe its the last page of your edocs. They TA usually receives these 30 days before sailing. Have a great trip

Not true. I booked with a TA and have received everything from NCL...including my welcome packet, coupon booklets and e-docs online with NCL.

I booked through a travel agent and everything was sent to them from NCL and I collected it.

All it was was a book of things I already know and 2 luggage tags.

And I booked a suite with NCL direct (CAS) and never received luggage tags or a welcome packet, NOR a souvenir book like SDMike got... :(

I got the souvenir book delivered on the last night of my cruise and I just left it on the ship. Mostly just advertisements. Nothing to be excited about.

I believe the souvenier book is for innaugaral cruise only. I did not get one on my first week, which is the 2nd Eastern cruise, but I recieved it on the Western Cruise which was my 2nd week and the first Western sailing. I saw the box that the books came in and it said "commemorative book 2010". Our cabin steward said it was free to take home. It is full of ads and pre-pictures you've seen of the Epic. It does have some ship build pictures in there. It's a coffee table book and a good conversation starter I guess. I kept the book.:D

Before jumping down my throat, i stated you should be getting welcome aboard packets from your TA, The TA might have NCL forward them to you, but it is the job of the TA to make sure you get them. To tell me what i said is "not true: very classy

To be precise, it's the travel agency's choice whether they want the booklets mailed directly by NCL to their clients or they want to have NCL mail them to the agency and give it to the clients themselves. Once a travel agency chooses to have NCL mail the booklets directly to passengers, as many if not most do, it's strictly up to NCL to get them there. It's only up to the travel agent to get them to clients if they have opted for that mode of delivery. Here's an excerpt from NCL's press release announcing the introduction of the booklet:

http://www.ncl.com/nclweb/pressroom/pressRelease.html?storyCode=PR_022309

Travel partners can opt to have NCL mail the booklet within 60 days of sailing to their client; thereby reducing the agency's mailing costs; or if the travel partner prefers, the cruise line can mail the booklet to them to give to their clients.

I didn't "jump down your throat" as you call it. I simply stated that it wasn't true (in my case). I booked my cruise using an online TA from a bid, paid for my cruise and have dealt with NCL ever since...with paying on my on board acct, the daily fees, getting a tee, all my questions regarding the cruise, to get my e-docs, to having them release my e-docs, getting the brochure about the ship in the first place, receiving the welcome packet and the coupon books. Everything has been done directly with NCL. So, sorry if you thought I was jumping down your throat. Simply stating that what you said is not necessarily true. Lighten up. The OP was asking a question, everyone is going to give advice. I gave mine. ;)

It's more or less an information packet.

Table of Contents say:

What to know before you go

What should I pack

While you're on board

On-board amenities

Bon Voyage gifts & packages

Ship Directory (with a breakdown of each deck and what is located on it)

It has a bunch of pictures and describes everything on board I guess you could say. It tells about tours, service charges, where to keep valuable, general questions asked by the public, about dining, bars & lounges, art, wine, tax & duty-free, photography, casino info, cash access on board, spa, fitness info and so on.

If there's anything you'd like to know specific, I can look and see if it's in there. :)
