Royal Poker Tournament

Recommended Posts

I noticed on the Royal Caribean's site that there is a new(?) promotion for "Royal Poker Tournament" that allows you to win a cruise.

Has anybody played in this tournament? What does is cost? How time consuming?

On cruises 7 days or longer, several $100 buy-in tournaments are held and the winner of each of these then plays the other winners, carrying their chips into the final round.

IF enough people participate the grand prze for that cruise is a trip on the Allure on Dec 11 for the final, where each cruise winner participates in the final tournament.

If not enough participate on each cruise, a cash prize is awarded.

The tournament has been going since last year when I cruised on the Jewel in late Oct...

they have these tournaments spread out on the cruise. Last time I played, it was $100. There were 5 satellite tournaments on the 9 night I went on. Usually over in 90 minutes. The top 2 in each satellite went to the final table the last sea day. Winner gets the cruise. 2nd and 3rd I believe got some cash.

Didn't take me long to get knocked out. Amazing how someone with 4 kings will crush your all in bet with ace high flush.

I played in a tournament last Summer on the Voyager and made the final table. We did not have enough players for the cruise. So instead we played for a cash prize. I think they paid out 1, 2 and 3rd place. (As a side note, we decided to "chop" the cash).

When I played it was a table by table elimination tournament. We had something like six tables, and the winner of each table went on the final table.

If you're going to play I would ask up front how many players are needed

As a side note, it was harder than it seemed to find out how much the cash prize was going to be. We had to ask several times

Keep in mind that the cruise you win is for a specific ship & date. It's not transferable, & there is no cash value........... That's a hard pill to swallow if your schedule or wallet isn't flexible enough to get you to the departure port!

My brother & I were top 2 at the final table and my brother did NOT want the cruise; we were able to negotiate BEFORE the tourney was over that I would get the cruise and he the cash. They also did allow us to play it out for bragging rights. I was lucky--he had me 14K to 3K chips when we went to 2.

Then he went cold & I got hot--actually won it outright.:)

I was given the same room category as we had on the Mariner, and we could upgrade for a fee. You do have to pay taxes/port charges plus gratuities up front. Taxes/fees were $273pp. But OV rooms for a Dec. 18 2011 cruise are $1200 a piece...so a good savings.

Entry fee is $100 for 7 day. I was on a 4 day when I won. Entry fee was $75. We had 8 total tables. Top player at each table went on to finals. So there was 8 of us in finals. 3rd place was $210, 2nd place was $490, 1st was 7 night cruise, Allure, Dec. 11, 2011 for 2 OV. :) You can transfer it with approval from casino royale.

So out of like 50-60 people entering the satellites at $75, only 3 won anything? Sounds like the cruise is making a killing off these tourneys.

Casino then pays for 7 night for 2 to play. Monies collected at satellites goes towards finals. Pot size in finals is around 100k if all slots filled. Yes, I'm sure the casino is making money. Isn't that what they're suppose to do?

Oh, yeah. I guess I kinda forgot about that final tourney. Duh! Any idea what the prize breakdown is for that tourney? I saw you qualified for it. Nice job!!! I really hope there's some OK poker to play on my Adventure of Seas cruise next month.

When talking with Casino on phone they can only give possible scenario on finals. All depends on how many actually qualify through out year, which is based on passenger participation each sailing and each tourney.

I won my seat on the Jewel of the Seas. It was a 11 night cruise and there were 9 qualifying rounds @ $75 per entry w/ $25 rebuys and a $25 add on after 30 minutes. I was told they needed to get $3500 in the prize pool to give away the cruise/tourney entry. We were $100 short and all the finalists agreed to give additional $20 each to secure the cruise for the winner. We only had 6 players in the final so the extra $20 went to 3rd place.

I was given a letter with a number to call to get my reservation. I have called numerous times but keep getting a voice mail. I have not received a call back yet. Has anyone had any difficulty getting somone on the phone there?

Thanks,

Jeff

7 night Eastern Caribbean cruise on Oasis of the Seas 13th December 2014 for sale.

Got lucky on our last cruise and won a cruise for 2 and a seat in the $100,000 poker tournament to be held on board the Oasis of the Seas in December 2014.

The itinerary takes you to the Bahamas, St. Marteen, St. Thomas out of Fort Lauderdale Florida.

It includes an Oceanview cabin for 2 and best of all, it also includes an entry seat in the $100,000 Texas Hold 'Em poker tournament finals to be held on-board mid-week. RCL do not sell entry into this tournament - you have to win it!

We unfortunately cannot make it hence it is for sale.

With Christmas just aroound the corner it would make the perfect gift for any avid Poker fan.

The cruise and poker entry seat is Transferable. Email me at

They do sell packages that include entry to the final tournament on the website "club royale "I think it's about $4000 for the package

Do you have any idea how many players are in the annual Royal Texas Hold'em Tourney?

Thanks

Kathy

I would like to revive this thread for the 2017 RPT. There are 2 this year. both on Allure of the Seas. Dec 3 and then on Dec 10. I was fortunate to win a seat on a cruise last March. I chose the Dec 10 cruise. You can buy a tournament seat for $750. top prize on either cruise is $50K. they are expecting 300 players on either cruise. Good luck all.

A few years ago a friend played in a Royal poker tournament and what bothered me was the fact that anyone could walk directly behind the players and see their cards. Hopefully they have changed this. At that time I noticed a man behind my friend looking closely at his hand...was he signaling another player??

No one sees your cards unless you let them
