xstormerx Posted August 8, 2010 #2 Share Posted August 8, 2010 Hi, I wrote to the website for the boatyard and they said it's $10 but it seems like it varies on the day between that and $15 (if you look at what others wrote on the boards). Hope that helps a little. Happy Cruising!
Aplmac Posted August 9, 2010 #3 Share Posted August 9, 2010 -- or can anyone tell me if there is a beach nearer than that but just as nice..? Frankly, no. Boatyard is situated on sweeping Carlisle Bay, one of our best beaches (even though the suburban areas nearby are hardly idyllic-touristy..) but it's definitely The Best Beach near to the Port, and many visitors and locals alike enjoy it. There is a closer beach (Brandons/Brighton/Malibu) but quite honestly it's nowhere near as nice as Carlisle Bay which is only a 10 min. ride away from the Port, much of that time absorbed in traffic around the town. . kgm0612 Posted August 19, 2010 #4 Share Posted August 19, 2010 We were a party of eight that spent the day at the Boat Yard. We were charged $10 per person, which included a lounge chair for each of us, 4 umbrellas, a free drink coupon, and free transportation back to the ship. leyla Posted August 26, 2010 #5 Share Posted August 26, 2010 My suggestion for this beach is to go early..we were there in April of this year and we were given the bracelets after paying, went in only to find out that there were no more chairs or umbrellas available...they gave us our money back and we just went a little further down to another beach. All within walking distance but not as nice as the boatyard nor the bar as good either. So go early. Price includes trip back to port..Happy cruising! Aplmac Posted August 26, 2010 #6 Share Posted August 26, 2010 ..by going to somewhere like Coconut Court over on the breezy South Coast and enjoy a beach at least as nice, plus the boardwalk to your right -as you face the water- it's up near that hotel at right.. which will then take you up to Accra/Rockley. :) Hastings Beach and Coconut Court are not that much further out than the Carlisle Bay area! If it's a 5-10 min. ride to Boatyard(depending on traffic in the town) it'll be just another 4-5 mins further on, to get to Coconut Court in the Hastings area where you'll find things nowhere as crowded. Both these pics taken standing in Coconut's large tidepool .
marycwilmes Posted October 21, 2011 #7 Share Posted October 21, 2011 When you say ride back to port...do you mean water taxi or regular land taxi?
OCruisers Posted April 18, 2012 #8 Share Posted April 18, 2012 When you say ride back to port...do you mean water taxi or regular land taxi? Regular land taxi van. There are times when going to a decent beach with a fun beach bar is what you want to do. Boatyard provides both. :)
