Brest - What to do?

Our Holland America cruise stops at Brest in September. The ship has tours to Quimper and Locronan. We also considered just going into town to the Maritime Museum and the Tour Tanguy. We're not interested in going to Oceanopolis. Has anyone been to Quimper or Locronan? Any suggestions or recommendations?

We docked in Brest at Easter and didn't know what to do either but ended up taking the coach to Quimper. We didn't have a guide but didn't need one as we just enjoyed the lovely atmosphere in the town. There wasa beautiful church and really interesting streets/ buildings in the lovely old town. There's a great indoor market, with all sorts of authentic French produce to look at (and taste!), a range of well-stocked little shops and plenty of restaurants for lunch. We'd definitely go back.

Thanks for the suggestion. The photos of Quimper on Trip Advisor seem interesting, also, so that's what we'll probably do. We've actually purchased a few pieces of the Quimper pottery in their US outlet in Stonington, Connecticut.
