Garmin GPS work in Canada?

I have a 2009 Garmin GPS. It was very useful once it found itself in California and gave up the Maryland home site. Will I be able to use it for touring in Quebec, PEI and NS. Jack tells me where to go and how to get there.

While the GPSR aspect of it (the GPS Receiver) will work just fine and give you your lat/lon, it may, or may not have maps for Canada. Check on your GPS and try locating a map of Montreal

If you zoom your map way out and scroll it you should be able to scroll over to Canada and scroll back in. That's how I verified that my Garmin Nuvi 350 has maps of Canada.

I have the 260W. Go to the section where you can input a destination. It should give you an option to choose US or Canada. That's how I found mine will be good for Halifax

almost all 2009 Garmin have Canada loaded in GPS sold in the US. go to the screen that says find address...

change state and then hit change country....type in Canada press done and if Canada shows as a possibility Canadian maps are loaded.

Most will but I would check your model to see what is maps are loaded in it to be sure. I have seen some weird combinations of maps.

As an experiment the other day, I put in a destination of 1 Main St., Halifax, NS. (I used NS as the state). It seemed to work, as I was given directions all the way. Tomorrow, I'm going to try it for Saint John, NB (use NB as the state).

I am pretty sure all Garmins are preloaded with North America (if they are Nuvi models), some will also have Europe depending on the model. You will be fine.

If you buy your Nuvi in Europe it might come with European maps but not North American maps. The Nuvis with model numbers ending in 70 or 75 ship with both North America and Europe maps.
